We could have a full discussion on women's sports and popularity, but generally I think it's fair to say that they aren't as commercially successful as men's. There's a few exceptions, women's soccer has a pretty strong following. And some Olympic events like gymnastics and figure skating. But stuff like the WNBA has never made money and has 1/10th of the attendance for ticket holders.

Keep in mind this ban includes K-12, so now a middle school trans kid can't play volleyball or basketball because uhh.... scholarships or world records or something?

Again, not my actual point, I care equally about women's sports as I do about men's (which is to say, not much at all). But I'm of the impression that's generally not the case in avid sports fans, maybe that's a false impression?

On this you are in a sense 100% correct in that woman's sports are at a huge disadvantage compared to men's on every level from little kids to professional leagues.

Some of this is a case of maturity (women's tennis has been around and is very popular for example) but that lack of maturity is for the most part due to long-standing bias against *female athletes by white-male dominated society.

However this only further illustrates my ultimate point.

hold on though, all the kid has to do is submit to a complete internal and external genital inspection.

what’s the problem?

what about manly girls accused of being trans, they get the red carpet service as well?

hope the state is also gonna pony up for all associated medical and mental health bills too.

yep, when it comes to a large portion of our society its

My body my choice, and Your body my choice

the hypocrisy is so built into their idea of what they think rights are and who gets them that they’ll never see it

Okay, I guess I needed to specify I meant "pro sports", the amount people engage with men's pro sports versus women's pro sports is a pretty significant gulf so far as I'm aware.

That's not what I was attempting to convey, more referencing WNBA market share versus NBA (although apparently women's soccer is more popular than men's now, so that's neat) and that kind of thing.

Again, not my actual point, I care equally about women's sports as I do about men's (which is to say, not much at all). But I'm of the impression that's generally not the case in avid sports fans, maybe that's a false impression?
I didn't think you were really trying to be dismissive of women's sports, but that is how it comes off and not just you.

I believe Women's Tennis, Soccer, Gymnastics, and Figure Skating are all more popular than men's. No, not football or basketball levels of popularity, but still big.

But the wedge works because people care about their own daughters having a fair chance to compete and being empathetic to women that have trained their whole lives to be beaten by a "cheater." That's why the best argument is "it's not an unfair advantage under these properly defined conditions."

I guess we'll see where all this lands after the midterms are over, might quiet down for another year, year and a half...

FINA has banned transgender women from participating in elite women's swimming competition run by FINA. This would apply to things like the Olympic games and the World Championships.
This does not apply to national or regional level competitions or lower level meets.

POLICY ON ELIGIBILITY FOR THE MEN’S AND WOMEN’S COMPETITON CATEGORIES

The world swimming body effectively bans transgender women from women's events
And that's who should decide if transgender athletes are banned. The organization who administrates those sports. Federal and state governments should keep the hell out of it.

The Republicans blocked the bill earlier to extend the free lunch school program. But the Democrats brought the bill up again and this time there was supposedly no Republican opposition.

However at least one Republican senator has said they will try to block it as long as possible if it's allowed to serve LGBTQ children

Link?

I will say, the free lunch program was great. I'll probably pay for school lunch either way. But for kids that are too well off for free lunches, but too poor for their parents to want to pay for school lunches, I am sure it massively increases their variety and and nutrition of lunch.

"After the $3 billion deal to extend the pandemic-era program was unveiled Tuesday, Sen. Roger Marshall (R-Kan.) said in an interview he is “contemplating” objecting to the measure because of new guidance from the Agriculture Department banning LGBTQ discrimination in any program that receives federal nutrition money, which includes most school lunch programs.

Marshall was among a handful of Senate Republicans who sent a letter to the Government Accountability Office last week objecting to the USDA nutrition guidance, which has also prompted a backlash from conservative media and key national Republicans. Likely 2024 presidential contender and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis argued the Biden administration was “trying to deny school lunch programs for states that don’t do transgender ideology in the schools.”

Republicans are particularly concerned with language in the USDA guidance that says programs that receive federal nutrition money need to state their policies for combating anti-LGBTQ discrimination.
Marshall said in the interview he had not decided about whether to go through with the objection. But he claimed the administration was trying “to use the school lunch issue to gain leverage over [schools’ broader LGBTQ policies].”

God forbid we feed the gays. I'm sure many of these GOPers wish they could just gas them like the Germans did.
