Unless you've had a hardware failure it is literally just not possible to brick the device because it will ALWAYS poll to a bootable SD image first before anything else. So as long as you have a properly made recovery image on your SD you should be able to get it to boot to that even if there's a complete eMMC corruption.

Check this thread. You're not the first to have this issue so first thing is remain calm and second is to follow those instructions exactly and you should be getting up and running again with a bit of effort

EDIT: Well dern, 2 posts late.

That XDA link has saved my dumb ass on multiple occasions when screwing around with my own Nook Color and inadvertently formatting the boot partition when trying to root my friend's Nook Color from memory.

I'll give it a go, but I don't have a lot of faith in my tech abilities as of late =/. I've messed it up a few times already but it's always at least been able to power up. As it stands now it never does a thing... it's like the battery is completely dead or something.

edit: well fuck me runnin... it's booting from SD

Yep, it takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'. You can mess them up, but it just about requires physical abuse or modification.

Bah, now I'm stuck in a clockwork mod recovery loop. Trying to restore from backup but it's just booting right back to the recovery screen regardless. This isn't from a bootable sd card either.

I did. I've given up on clockwork mod as my major problems have come from using this. Google has produced a number of results of people having similar problems as well as hanging and bugs. I'm going to start fresh yet again but avoid that particular manager unless I'm out of options.

Alright I think things are going well enough. I installed an overclockable kernel and have setcpu running. I also figured out how to get SwiftKey running on rooted Nook fw.

Well, not necessarily. The review is of the gimped wifi Tab, and assumes you have to pay $350.

Vivek is right that $350 is too much, although a 10" Transformer isn't the equivalent of a pocketable 7" Tab.

The article also assumes that you pay $250 for the nook which is also too much.

I got mine for $200.

Same can be said of the Galaxy Tab. I paid $214 including tax for my AT&T one which is far superior to the gimped WiFi Galaxy Tab.

Pretty amazing to see that the Nook Color has a better screen than the Galaxy Tab (or iPad 2). I figure they used the same screens.

This review would have been more awesome if the Nook Color had a newer version of CM7 (battery life would have gone up) and an overclock.

att weekend sale, $199 + tax + cancel contract after 30 days.

oh, sweet. I thought you usually had to return the device if canceling within the thirty day period
