I just got my sx1030 from Page Computers.

I previously modified my KS188 and I was thinking of doing something to my sx1030. A window in the side that curves around the handle maybe--using the molding sold by PCmods.com.

LMK what you guys have done, pix too if possible.

Let's see...I added a 120mm in the front, a 80mm over my video card/CPU, and a 92mm over the PS. Keeps everything nice and cool..and not too loud. I used a jig saw on the 120mm and hole saw on the other two. The metal on the case is a b*tch to cut, although I was using an cheap power drill with no grease/lube. But hey, I(my dad rather) got the saw from work for nuthin!

I was thinking about that side latch, looks like you could take it off. Trace the stamped hole then use a dremel to copy the cutout a little lower. That moves it out of the way from over the cpu. Then put a bezel around the new large hole you are going to cut for the cpu intake duct (on top of the oem hole one). With a little work a rectangle bezel could be made and then make the window a reversed squared off C shape. Maybe...

Know any electricians? They have what is called a knockout. It is used for conduit mostly, but i have some at work up to six inches. Works great!
Dont think about buying one. The big ones sale for a couple hundred $$.

OK I can see windows are cool but why add the extra fans my SX830 case temp is the same as ambeint room temp with the additon of the two front intake fans. I just don't see any reason to chop this case up for more fans

Damn.. I don't have a webpage so I can't really show you my mod on my SX1030

But basically it's a Baybus w/ blue LEDs and rocket switch, SPST, route to a Fanbus Hub on the bottom of my case, inside, most of the cables are rounded and grouped, everything is opened. I'm working on the front USB slot as we speak, but I'm having some engineering difficulty. Basically I wanna mod those extra USB thing that the CUSL2 mobo came with to the second floppy slot on the SX1030, u know.. the little 3.5" one? Anyway, I could just super glue it on but I figure that it's probably not strong enough, since when you plug in usb you're putting considerable force back on it, and superglue probably won't hold.. any sugession?

As for the Fanbus pic.. I would gladly email it to anyone who wants it.

I saw a mod a guy did similar or exactly like that. He cut holes in his 3 1/2 cover and detached the usb ports(and PCB) from the one that ships with the CUSL2/KT7. Then he somehow mounted the ports to the cover plate, with glue or something.
