I believe they called it "possible" but I don't recall specifics. They also tested dropping an appliance into the water, and that was more recent, so I may be getting them confused. I'm fairly sure that people die each year while showering in a thunderstorm.

Edit: Here's episode specifics:
Episode 30: Son of a Gun
It's survived untried for nearly 150 years: The myth of the Civil War soldier who was shot clean through his nether regions and the nearby woman who became pregnant when hit by the traveling bullet. Good luck, Jamie and Adam! Then the two test just how dangerous it is to use the telephone or take a shower during a thunderstorm. Finally, Scottie and Kari attempt to re-create the voyage of a hapless pair of boating greenhorns who set out to sea without first detaching their boat from their car trailer.

I was washing my face a few summers ago at the sink and I'd just finished drying when lightning struch right outside my house. I heard a loud ass crackling noise coming from the drain...so yea it's no myth that you can get shocked. I was pretty damn lucky...30 seconds off and I'd have been a dead man.

Meh. I risk it if I must. I don't prefer it, but I assume that the lightning would need to hit the building or be extremely close in order to damage me.

I have been shocked once while using a wired telephone. It was an older imitation "Trimline" phone. I was on a call, pacing around, one hand up to my ear with the handset, the other hand holding the base, with my fingers touching the exposed metal chassis. The lighting struck very close by. I remember seeing the flash, the jolt, yelling out in pain, dropping the base, and hearing the thunder all simultaneously.

Your not supposed to take a shower, wash your hands, brush your teeth, or use you house phone during a Tstorm for there is a great risk you can get fried.

OH flying a kite is bad too

Me too. When I was a kid my parents always gave me a bath during thunder storms. I could never figure out why.

I live in South FL, the lighting strike capital of the world, it storms every day in the summer so its kind of unavoidable.

i have heard stories of folks getting electricuted while in the tub, but i have done it and will continue to. There is something so relaxing about laying in a tub with a candle while listening to the rain outside!!!

Depends on the severity of the storm. If it's a severe storm, I'm generally checking NOAA for a warning. If it's just a regular mild storm, it's not going to hurt you.

As a child, I was told that you get electrocuted. I never showered during a t-storm.

I generally don't do it. A quick google search will bring up a lot of hits saying pretty much the same thing.

During a Thunderstorm I would:

1) Unplug computer and other major electronics.
2) Advise against taking a shower.

You are only in danger if you complete the circuit, so unless you are holding a lighting rod while showing in a lightning storm, you are in no danger
