Shower drain is semi-clogged...

I think it's the buildup in the pipes. Everytime you shower, water wouldn't drain as quickly. Now it's to the point where a pool of water accumulates upto your ankle by the time shower is done.

It still drains but you just have to wait like 30 mins.

What's a good solution? Is Drano safe for the pipes? Any other cleaners?

Draino. Get the gel or the foaming stuff. It dissolves the hair and muck real good.

Remove stopper/grate and get out that massive wad of hair thats part of the problem. Follow that up with foaming pipe snake and you'll be good to go.

My dad used to use a plunger on the drain. Seemed to alleviate the problem for 8-12 months. Was disgusting to watch of course...

hahhaaha i did that. Now it's to a point a plunger doesn't even work.

snakes aren't that expensive. considering a plumber would charge $50 bucks a pop to come out and use one, it's well worth it.

After you get it cleaned out, put a fine screen in the shower drain to keep hair from going down in the first place!

They shed their hair. Esp. during showering. And it clogs the pipes pretty quick. You probably have a strainer somewhere in your basin. I have to clean my basin on a montly basis....

Their tampons are also another issue. That is when they are flushed down the toliet and clogs the trap to a point where you have to tear up the 1st floor ceiling to take apart to toliet trap while shit water is getting all over the floor.....

My bathroom sink was clogged for the past few days and we tried everything to clear the clog. Plunger didn't work either. Finally I got Liquid Plumr, poured the whole bottle (they recommended half or full bottle depending on how bad the clog was) and flushed some hot water, and left it like that overnight. In the morning that clog was all gone.

whats that one stick thing other members have tried? You stick it down the drain and it pulls up a ton of hair.

I got charged $157.70 by my plumber to fix our tub clog. That's the last time I'll ever pay to have that done. Snakes ftw!

i'm able to just use a coat hanger, straightened, then one end bent like a hook.. i push it down till i feel the clog. then try to hook it and twist it a few times to get a good grip on the hair, then pull.. usually a big wad of hair comes out and i just flush that down the toilet....

by the way, to the person who's wife/daughter/sister/mother is flushing tampons down the toilet, tell them to stop, they're not supposed to be flushed down the toilet, that's why they get stuck... just go buy cheap little sandwich bags and they can put them in there and throw them away in the trash....

Then that zipclean thing the other member just posted is good or install a permanent jar trap device that you can simply unscrew and remove whatever falls to the bottom. The problem is things like hair simply is so light it travels though the whole plumbing system before it's caught up on some bend where it sits there restricting water.

You do know that the waste line is not filled with water, right? There is quite a bit of air space in the line. I would definitely not flush a pipe clog down another pipe. That is just stupid ...

On ours I jsut take off the grate thing in the tub and you can see all the hair and gunk stuck around the piece that it screws into. It's like right there. I use a needle nose pliers and just yank it all out once a month or so and it clears it right up.
