Interestingly enough, this is the concept of the Mother Dirt collection of products. Microbiome friendly products, with one being what could be called a probiotic spray. Contains specific bacteria (ammonia oxidizing bacteria) that a) help crowd out less friendly bacteria, and b) help convert a lot of our sweat and other outputs into skin-friendly byproducts. The concept is that AOBs are prevalent in dirt and we used to get a lot of dirt on us in nature. We'd often rinse ourselves off but wouldn't scrub soaps all over, we'd just rinse off dirt and then dry off.
Our obsession with cleanliness has meant we routinely strip off necessary nutrients and our good skin microbiome, and replace it with harsh chemical-laden moisturizers that further prevents the growth of the overly fragile AOBs. We keep stripping off the oils our bodies make, the body decides to produce more to compensate, which locks us into a cycle of feeling overly oily and thinking we thus need to wash up again. It is a fact that you can actually use soap and shampoo less often and eventually your oil productions reaches a natural balance. If you use soap and shampoo once a week for instance, your hair and skin won't be nearly as dry and won't become slick with an oil sheen that wrecks our hair and skin.
The frequent bathing tends to mean AOBs have zero chance to maintain a stable population, because they are very fragile due to a very slow growth. They are among the first to be washed and those that are able to stick around then have a very tough time maintaining their ground and rebuilding the colony.
