I received a promo e-mail from Directv in my inbox this morning notifying me of the promotion - so *YES* it will be open on Directv all weekend!

It figures that the weather seems to be looking good for this weekend. This would have been great for use in the northeast last weekend when the weather was crappy and cold.

Looks like DishNetwork will have the free preview, too, since it's mentioned on their website. Time to fire up the old dishplayer and grab another 20 hours of free movies to get me by until the next free preview weekend!

Hopefully the free preview includes the Showtime HDTV channel ( Channel 543 on DirecTV ). Tomb Raider in 1920x1080 HDTV will be awesome.... 4x the resolution of a DVD.

Of course you need an HDTV capable receiver to display it, and you need the Oval dish that gets all three DirecTV satellites (SHO-HD is on the satellite at 110 degrees, HBO-HD and HDNet (sports) are on the satellite at 119 degrees. Standard programming is on the main satellite at 101 degrees ).

It's going to take more than a bump up in resolution to make that movie worth watching

All the good movies for me are scheduled to record early this morning or tomorrow.
