While searching for a good deal on Shure Isolating Headphones, I found a seller that has great prices.
Shure E2 $69 (compare to Amazon $74.49)
Shure E3 $123 (compare to Amazon $129.99)
Shure E4 $183 (compare to Amazon $199.94)
No tax. Free shipping.

NOTE: The price listed above will appear when you add it to your cart. Could be a price mistake?

The seller is DJDeals.com, which I have never heard of before. They have no comments at Reseller Ratings. They have 4.5 stars (out of 5 stars) from 32 reviewers at Epinions.com and 4.5 stars from 262 reviewers at Dealtime.com where they are listed as a "Trusted store".

I don't know if Epinions/Dealtime comments are reliable. I am somewhat hesitant to buy because the seller has no feedback on Reseller Ratings.

Based on searches on AT and FW, it seems that in August there were some better deals out there (E2 $59; E3 $109; E4 $170), but nothing recently.

i purchased the Soft Flex tips and they are awesome. i think the newer ones come with the Soft Flex tips (black), so you might not have to buy them seperately.

FYI: I did some research and confirmed that the E2 and E2c are the exact same product in different packaging. One has packaging that is targeted to the consumer market and the other has packaging that is targeted to the professional/commercial market.

Google this: shure difference E2 E2c and you will find the info on many different sites.

I suggest you try something cheaper to begin with, such as Sony EX; many are quite happy with them. At least, you'll find out how you like to have ear plugs in your ears for long period of time, before you spend big bucks. Those high priced headphones are really good. I take good care of my earphones, they last more than 10 years; if you often abuse yours, it gets expensive.

My E2C's just broke after about 2 months
Well that was because when I got on the car, I closed the door with the e2cs hanging out, and it dragged on the road for 20 miles. When I got home, it disintegrated down to the bare wires

Anyways, I loved these. I love how they fit in your ears, and the cables go behind your head, into your shirt. No one can tell you even have them on. The sound quality is awesome. I don't like the rubber tips though, I use the orange foam ones. They're supposed to be disposable tips, but I just put them in the washing machine, and they're like new again.

When you're wearing these, what kind of sounds can/can't you hear around you? ie. how loud would people sitting near you have to get before you could hear them talking or laughing? If they work well for that, it'd be worth the $ for me.

Isn't Comp-U-Plus known for bad customer service?

yea they do isolate the sound around you. Shure probably does it better than sony (what i have)

the only bad thing is if u walk you cant hear cars coming behind you etc. (almost died a few times cause i walk to school)

LOL washing machine. I'm not sure which plugs you're referring to, are they the triple-flang ones?

As far as smashing your headphones, you know that you can send Shure your broken headhpones (any model, no matter how broken, ie smashed with a hammer) along with 40$ or 50$ and they'll replace them? Good company.

I got my Shure E3c's from comp-u-plus, along with my Zen Touch 40GB. Shipping was horrible though, really offset the money I saved going with them. Was like 20$ or something.

Get the E4c's if you can, they're perfect, and have the flatest response curve of just about any headphone. I'd step up from my E3c's but mine are already so good...can't justify 200$.

Any EX is the same as the EXc model, just differently colored.

About the sounds.....it depends on the tips you use. I use the silicone ones, and I can hear people talking around me. Definately quieter of course, but I can still hear them. Once you start playing music then its really not bad at all. If you use the actual plugs, then its like any other ear plug....you can barely hear anything at all. Absolutely perfect for mowing. Actually the silicone ones are what I use for mowing I believe, and they worked fine.

Yeah great headphones, they're only 120 for the E3c's, so pick them up.

E2c: $55.00
E3c: $107.40

Wow cool. Great to hear that I can pay $40-50 to get them replaced instead of $80...

As for the foam eartips I was talking about.. Here's a pic of them when I had my mobiblu player.. http://astroguy.org/mobiblu.jpg

I don't follow what you're saying? The actual plugs?

Yeah....these headphones are in-ear headphones, so for the "plugs", you insert the headphone into an earplug and then that earplug into your ear...so you're wearing an earplug, but one that plays music.

Oh, I thought that was the only way to use these.

WARNING: to all those who just bought their first pair of Shure E's.

It takes some practice to figure out how to get these earphones to fit properly and comfortably. The first few times I used my new E2C earphones, the sound sucked (no bass), they did not block outside noise well, and the earphones became painful to wear after awhile - all because I did not have them in my ears properly.

Try the different size tips and move the earphones around until it feels comfortable. You'll know you have them on correctly when you get good bass, no outside noise, and it is comfortable to leave them in for awhile.

I'll attest to the Shure warranty...I sent in E3's last year that my dog had decided to check through and they replaced them for the $40 or so fee.
I'm now using E4s with custom sensaphonics sleeves that increase the quality dramatically over the foamies and triple flange I used to use.

Where do you find the other tips that are being mentioned above- like the silicone plugs, etc.?

a huge assortment comes with the headphones.

I'm using them now and they're so wonderful.

I'm gonna have to look into the whole custom-molded-to-fit-my-ear heaphones.
