Oh man God of War looks so much better than it did last E3, and last E3's presentation of God of War was the biggest reason I bought a PS4, and I'm happy to see an early 2018 release date. I'm disappointed there was no Bloodborne II announcement, but the Horizon Zero Dawn DLC at Yellowstone is going to be a must buy, especially since it's confirmed for 2017. The remaster of the remaster of Shadow of the Colossus looks interesting too.

I've only played GoW on the PSP, but have seen gameplay/cinematics from the other GoW series. I just can't get into the game. It's too much of the same thing IMO:

- Kratos screaming at everyone
- Each stage is the same, fight some trash mobs, and then get to the big boss where you do QTE to damage the boss, more trash mobs come out, clear them out, then another QTE.
- Kratos screaming at someone else
- Repeat

I don't judge anyone who likes the game, to each their own obviously. It's just not for me.

SoC was on PS3... I'd consider that the remastered version. There's only so much you can do with an older game not meant for higher resolution and draw distance.
That was “HD,” but not remastered. Textures and models appeared to be mostly unchanged. Definitely not what I would call “remastered.”

Like in the music world, going back to an existing master recording and releasing on a newer high-quality format is not “remastering.” Studio recordings are typically multi-track (with separate recordings for each instrument and vocals). Producing a new master that re-balances the multiple recorded source elements without watering them down, that’s what I call a remaster.

Then go play it on the original hardware for crying out loud. I'm sorry. I'm not angry at you for being excited I am angry at the industry as a whole.

That won’t expose it to anyone new. Also, it was obvious back then that the game was far too grand and epic for the hardware it ran on. The PS2 was pushed way beyond what I thought it could do. The frame rate was bad as a result.

I’m actually glad The Last Guardian wasn’t released for PS3 because the game is gorgeous and I wouldn’t want them to water it down to PS3-level quality. It would be a tragic waste of artistic talent.

I'm really on the fence about getting The Last Guardian and the PS Store has it on sale for $26 right now. The art style looks amazing and the story sounds interesting, but (1) this game seems to be something everyone either absolutely loves or think completely sucks and (2) I have the PS4 Slim and I heard the framerate is bad. I can live with (2) I guess considering how much I loved the original Red Dead Redemption which had tons of really bad frame drops into the 20s.

LOL and now that I typed that paragraph I think I'm going to get it.

I still need to play GoW 3 - just finally finished 2 last month.
GoW2 is my favorite of the three. I didn't thin Ascension was all-time that good and I never played the PSP games but I do love God of War.

Spider-Man looked the best to me. I really enjoy inFamous games and this looks right up that alley. They showed off really cool moves and powers and I don't get hung up on QTE stuff as long as it's not all there is. Hell I loved Shenmue and that's most of the game.

Man the PS Store had the origins collection for PS3 with two of the PSP games on sale for $2.50 a month or so ago so I had to bite. They also had the PS3 remasters of GOW 1 & 2 together for the same price too.

I thought that game felt like a mess on PS2 with the framerate always in the 20s. I got the PS3 remaster though since it looked pretty faithful to the original while being able to play at 30 fps. I doubt I'll buy the remaster of the remaster since it looks way too different.

Am I reading this correctly? The game came out on the PS2 and was remade for the PS3 and now it's getting remade for the PS4? I barely remember the game, but missed it getting redone on the PS3

I played on PS4 Pro in 1080p (don’t have a 4K TV). It was gorgeous. I bought the PS4 Pro the day the game launched (12/6), specifically for that game.

Still, the camera and controls are so frustrating, it really hurts the game. They tried to simplify the controls over Shadow of the Colossus, but that just makes TLG’s control more difficult. It grabs things when you don’t want to.

It’s definitely worth going through. My friend came over 2 nights in a row and finished it. Typical for the series, the story was very moving and leaves a lot to the imagination.

What would you rate it on a 10 point scale, where say 5 is mediocre, 6 is decent, 7 is good, 8 is great, 9 is must play, and 10 is perfect?

I would personally give it 8, but I won’t blame people for not tolerating the flawed camera and controls. It’s unfortunate those people probably won’t play far enough to see the gorgeous or emotional parts.

If it is anything like The Order 1886, it will be down to $16 regular price in another 6 months or so. I'll probably buy it when it is under $20. It looks really interesting, but I have heard the controls are just garbage.

I am thinking about buying Rime right now, which apparently is very much like The Last Guardian and also has some frustrating controls.

The sale ends the 16the right? I tried to buy the last guardian but the ps store just added my card to my account and told me your payment may not be complete..check transaction history. Not sure what happened there but there is nothing in my history. Going to have to check my bank to see if they took money out.

This is apparently a common problem on the PS Store. I started a thread about it a few weeks ago. I tried to resolve the issue in a chat session and their rep was less than helpful. Their ultimate solution was that I needed to go buy PS Store gift cards from Amazon and use those to pay for transactions.

That's pretty ridiculous. Did they take the money out or was it void, or never happened? If that's the case I'll just wait until it's even cheaper next time.

They didn't charge my card.

I usually try to shop the PS Store from a computer and Internet Browser...that is where I was having the problem

I was able to complete a transaction on my PS4 though.
Then I tried to complete a transaction on my PS3...it didn't work.

I tried several times over the last few months to complete a transaction with my credit card through a web browser and it would not work.
Then I was able to complete a transaction last week.

Sony is plain incompetent when it comes to online services.

Not to mention they have been hacked a few times already. I was trying on my phone through chrome. Usually through the PS4 it will go through so I may try it later if I really feel like buying it.

Says here shadow of the Colossus will be a remake.

I really hate these remakes/remasters... This looks to be the worst of them all with it having already been done last gen. If they're sinking resources to allow new controls, why don't they just make a sequel?
Probably cheaper to do a remake and redo the graphics. Who knows..that's a good question. Lately all we have seen have been remasters besides a few new tiles.

The video game industry looks a lot like Hollywood.
That is because it now costs as much (or more) to make a AAA video game as it does to make a Hollywood movie, and they have a fraction of the marketshare (a PG/PG13 movie has 130-140million in the US alone which might consider watching the movie, but a AAA PS4 game will only have 60million people in the WORLD which might consider buying the game).

I have seen The Order 1886 for $5 two or three times this year on the PS Store. From everything I have heard about it the only reason to get it would be for the graphics, so I'll just save my $5 and watch someone's longplay of it if I ever want to see how impressive it is graphically.

I initially had that game. I happened to get it as a gift so that's why. Otherwise I would not have spent full price on it. The story is fine and the gameplay is quite fun but it's very very short. I think it can be completed in 4 hours. Graphically it's very nice but I'd say uncharted 4 and horizon also are up there in the graphics rating.

as linked above, Polygon apparently disagrees... "The game has already been remastered on the PlayStation 3..."

i don't care what you consider remastered, Abraham...
I’m very aware that some people consider the PS3 HD release to be a “remaster,” but referring to the PS3 game as “remastered” is technically incorrect. It’s not really remastered.

As I said, the PS4 version will actually be a proper remaster. This game really deserves that kind of special attention.

Because that would require actual work.
