I wouldn't trust them to " Give me what I want first, then I promise we will do what you want later ".

That would be stupid, Regan was tricked by this ploy. He has said all along you will get DACA when we fund the wall fully and and do away with chain immigration .

They did what Trump asked in a bipartisan effort on the first part with Trump refusing to consider what was presented, despite Trump saying that exact thing.

So, guess we shouldn't believe anything Turnip says, again, right? As always, Turnip twists in the wind.

Fundamentally this is not how deals work. You would never pay someone to put a new driveway down at your house by paying 100% up front. You’d make a deal like $500 now, 50% at start of work, 50% when completed.

I’d never agree to a work contract that pays me at the end of its term. That’s just crazy talk

Compromise and deals require exposure and trust.

Shut it down.. Trumps ratings should skyrocket in the downtime.. Remember the buck stops at the president.. Let it burn until someone scrambles and impeaches or pulls the 25th..

Republicans just released a government spending bill, then went back behind closed doors, and then realized they don't have the votes within their own caucus. Deadline is Friday.

Basically, the White House literally shit all over a bipartisan agreement on DACA and border security that would've made funding the government much easier. They are grossly incompetent, as per yoosh, and somehow it's all the Democrats' fault.

So, do you think the government shuts down, or do you think Republicans in Congress can get the votes they need for another continuing resolution?
Let those assholes figure it out. Democrats need not participate. F'um.

They were allowed to enter this country as a temporary fix. The law was passed by all concerned as temporary. The vote cast by each member of Congress was for temporary relief. This is not and was never intended to be permanent and to have a Democrats attempting to take advantage of the law passed is shameless.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temporary_protected_status

"Temporary protected status (also called "TPS") is a temporary status given to eligible nationals of designated countries who are present in the United States. The status, accorded to nationals from some countries affected by armed conflict or natural disaster, allows persons to live and work in the United States for limited times.[1][2] Currently, persons from ten countries—Haiti, El Salvador, Syria, Nepal, Honduras, Yemen, Somalia, Sudan, Nicaragua; and South Sudan—have temporary protected status. About 320,000 people have TPS as of 2017, the majority from El Salvador (195,000), Honduras (57,000), and Haiti (46,000).[2]"
Seriously would some of you wanting to give the TPS people citizenship explain what the purpose of the TPS program was intended to accomplish. From the word "temporary" I don't think it was intended to provide US Citizenship.

As for DACA I would be all for DACA and granting the existing persons on the DACA Program a green card provided that a line is drawn and it isn't continued or expanded. As far as I know Trump has said from the start that increased border security and a wall would have to go with the DACA agreement. The agreement they brought did neither.

Totally lame. If we really meant for it to be temporary then these people should have been sent home long ago. The Salvadorans have been here since 2001 & earlier. Shipping them & their American citizen children off now is just racist cruelty. The same is true of the dreamers who were brought here as children.

Bah. What am I saying? They're just shitty brown people from shithole countries, right? Fuck 'em. Make America White again.

Think the House GOP is probably a few votes shy for the CR but can likely peel a few D votes particularly from places with lots of federal workers. Doing so might not be well received in their caucus however.

This only gets them thru mid February though, takes CHIP off the table for 6 years, and is not totally assured that the Senate is able to pass. Oof.

Why is there so much crying about "chain migration"? I don't understand what the big deal is. Why is it such a terrible thing? Is there research showing it's so detrimental? If anything wouldn't immigrants who have family already integrated into US society do better? Can someone explain to me why it's a problem?

I personally don't think he is a monster. I think he is just an asshole...

One that was probably bullied when young. LIke many of us are. Some go into the military. Some become cops. Some go to school and get good jobs as revenge. These are types usually align themselves with the conservative ideology. They want to "get back" at the people and the society that allowed this to happen to them. The fastest way and the path of least resistance is to become a twat who only gives a shit about themselves. This is never a liberal person. This is never a person with a modicum of compassion. This is someone who was damaged young but who did not have the support of compassionate parents to help them through it.

Since they can't get back at the people who made them feel this way.... the only way to reconcile their self hatred later in life is to hate others. Especially people they feel superior to... It is the classic grandiose megalomaniac with an inferiority complex on display...

Wanting to deport 1M innocent people to shithole countries is what makes you a monster, Taj. That's not a matter of politics but of common decency.
They are guests that have overstayed their invitation. How many are you housing and supporting?

The laws were passed to be TEMPORARY! Everyone knew it when they voted on it, to change it after the fact is a damn farce.

I may be wrong, doesn't "Chain Migration" benefit people from Ireland and some other mostly White place?

Fuck 'em! Fuck their nasty brown American citizen rug rats, too! On a dishonest technicality, of course. Been here since 2001? Party's over. GTFO! Not White enough!

You'll never make America White again, anyway, so why don't you just give it up & quit being an insufferable dick about it?

The program didn't give them a path to become US citizens or even legal permanent residency but we gladly took their tuition money, sales, state, and federal income taxes for years...

Ones that were following the rules, paying their $495, working and paying taxes, and staying out of legal trouble, should have been given an easy path to stay. Both sides of the aisles have failed these people...

Man I didn't even think Trump supporters want the Wall; it's one of the most blatant fear-mongering means-to-win-an-election campaign promises I've ever seen...are there really people that think it would work and be worth the money? Holy crap. Right up there with banning nail clippers on planes after 9/11 and thinking we were actually taking action to make ourselves safer...

From what I'm hearing, the "Freedom caucus" schmucks don't like the current plan because they want more military spending. Exactly what this country needs....meanwhile let's complain about how much everything else is costing while we buy more multi-billion dollar planes that may not work and that we won't even use.

I don't agree with you politically so i'm a monster, got it.
Nope, you're just a monster. I'd like very much for things to be different but you insist on being that way.

I wouldn't consider you a monster if this were a typical Administration led by a decent president. I'd just consider you wrong.

It's defending anything that bag of shit or his particularly slimey dingleberries says and does that makes you a monster. Is that something you can get?

You overstay your welcome on the regular! That's it! Someone ship tajjy off to wherever Trumpuppets go when they've lost any political usefulness!
