Shutdown problems

I've got two problems with two new Dell machines that I've setup for my family. Both are running Windows ME.

The first one only happends sometimes. When you shut it down the PC's power light, monitor, etc will all turn off, but the fans inside will all be still on. I thought that my sister was accidentally selecting hibernate instead of shutdown, but after a few tries it did it with me too (when I definatly said Shut Down). I've tried disabling Hibernation support but that hasn't helped. Anyone know what's up?

The second machine hangs when you try to shut down or restart it. You don't get any "this pc is ready to be turned off" or whatever message, the screen just goes blank and the keyboard locks (the num-lock key doesn't toggle). At the stage you just have to turn it off or hit the reset button. I can't find a ACPI option in the BIOS to see if it's on, but since its a new PIII machine i'm guessing it on by default. I've tried the long list on the MS web site and it's not:

- Fast Shutdown (ME doesn't seem to have this 'feature')
- A corrupt shutdown sound (there is no shutdown sound)
- A program in the startup folder
- Something in win.ini or system.ini

I'm almost certain it's something to do with the scanner or SCSI card that I installed in it, because I think it was working before I put them in. When I was fiddleing around with the startup folder and win.ini & system.ini settings (using msconfig) it shutdown properly but I couldn't really work out why because it didn't seem to connect to any changes I had done.

The Scanner is a HP ScanJet 6100, and the SCSI card is an Adaptec 2906 (but shows up as something else -- however the Adaptec driver page says this is fine and nothing to worry about). I'm wodering if it's something to do with the way I installed the HP scanner software (I know there are issues with ME). I installed the old 95/98 sofware from their web site, then installed their ME 'fixes'. It seems ok because the scanner works fine (something that I was very supprised about).

Ahhhhh-ha!

I think it's the NDIS driver crashing (because of dodgy drivers for the ISDN card). Does any one know where I can get Win ME drivers for a Eicon ISDN card???

Yeah I tried that, no luck. IF I disable the ndis driver in msconfig it works fine (well apart from the ISDN card of cource).
