I recently bought a Gigabyte P35 DSR3 motherboard, along with a new Corsair HX520 PSU. I put the new hardware (along with new RAM, GFX, etc.) it in the same case I had before. Whenever I did a shutdown, it mostly rebooted the machine instead. It shut it down, seemingly (all drives turned off), but then after about 3 seconds it restarted. Flipping off the power switch on the PSU of course killed it in its attempt to restart, but turning it back on made it start again. The strange thing is, if I flipped the switch to kill it, and then returned the next day to start it, flipping on the switch didn't restart it, then I had to use the power button.
I somehow solved the problem, and I can't remember how - now, a few weeks later, I got a new case, an Antec P182, and the problem persists. I've turned off every possible "wake on" functionality in the BIOS, and made sure power SW and reset SW wires are connected properly. It happens both when shutting down hitting the power button on the case, and when using the Start->Shut Down method.
The event log shows no errors during shutdown, and reboot-on-errors is turned off. Could it be a short circuit in my motherboard or a faulty power on button?
