Hello, I just installed a Shuttle AK31 motherboard in my system. Along with it is 256MB Crucial DDR RAM and a 1.4Ghz Athlon @266fsb. First I just stuck the board in and rebooted Win2k...it was a little flaky so I formatted and did a fresh install of Win2k (3 times so far). It is still pretty bad, I'm getting blue screens once in a while, sometimes it locks up at the Win2k splash screen (before the desktop even loads), and sometimes it randomly just freezes up (reset button is the only way to get out of it).
I've tried dropping my drives fro UDMA to PIO...didn't help. I've tried both with and without VIA's 4-in-1 4.32 drivers...didn't help. I dual-boot with Win98, and 98 handles this board just fine. It seems to be rock solid and I didn't even do a fresh reinstall of it.
My case temperature runs about 33 degrees Celsius (~95 F) and the processor runs about 55 degrees (~129 F). The board runs the processor at 1.75V. Do these numbers sound right? I also have an AMD approved heatsink/fan and an AMD approved 300watt powersupply. In my mind it seems to be more of a Win2k problem than an overall system problem since Win98 works great.
Please post as many ideas as you can think of. Thanks for your help,

Also, if I do make it successfully into Win2k and do a shutdown, the next time I boot up it goes through a scandisk on the C: drive. Sometimes it doesn't find anything and sometimes it finds a corrupt file or two. The system seemed to go through a normal shutdown though. Can the system be shutting off before Windows is ready to, sort of like the problem that Win98 had?? I've run a scandisk and it didn't come up with any errors.
