Shuttle AK31A with XP 1800+?

Is anyone running this setup? I ordered the chip today and I was wondering what kind of OCs people are getting (I got the AGOGA stepping). I've been hearing that it doesn't show up at the full 1.53ghz when you first install it, that you must change a BIOS setting or something. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

I ordered a 1600+ from newegg but I was unlucky and got a back chip(doesnt overclock like everyone elses because its a different stepping). Anywho it will load WinXP at 166FSB(1.74Ghz) at 1.85 but it isnt stable. Don't know if its the chip or my ram. I am leaning more on the ram but it could be a mixure of both. I wish AMD hadnt made these so hard to unlock . This is on a Shuttle AK31a.

Not sure if I answered your question or not but it will run a 2000+ or better chip.

In order for the XP 1800 to run at 1.53GHz, you have to go into the BIOS and set the FSB to 133MHz.

Yeah it ain't like other boards. It doesn't auto detect(well mine didn't) I had to go in and literally type 133 under FSB. My default was 100. Kind of nice though you just type which FSB you want and its there. Where others have 1FSB steps.

With my current 1ghz T-Bird, I don't think I could hit 133mhz FSB. It just runs at 10x100fsb. Does this limitation have anything to do with the chip? I'll try and see if I can make it (the 1ghz) run 133 now, I'm at 120mhz currently.

Ok, I'm running at 10x133fsb right now. It's OCed to 1.33ghz. Does anyone know the default multiplier setting for the 1800?

Oh, I see. What kind of settings have people been pushing them to? I doubt my fsb would go much higher.

Like LED said, the multiplier for the Athlon 1800+ is 11.5. The board can run at multiple FSB settings and has increments of 1Mhz. It's an excellent overclocking board and is priced in the budget range. I was able to run my 1800+ stable @ 140Mhz resulting in a clock speed of 1610Mhz or a 1900+. Anything over that resulted in crashes during 3DMark2001.

It's a shame the KT266A chipset doesn't have 1/5 dividers. I would have liked to have run the chip at a lower multiplier and with a much higher FSB. I'm pretty sure the CPU could have taken it. Happy overclocking.
