Not sure if this is a repost because I can't do a full-text search, but Newegg is selling the Shuttle AN35N Ultra-400 nForce2 motherboard and T-Shirt for $47.99 shipped after a $15 rebate from Shuttle. Sigh. I just bought this package for $61 shipped a couple of weeks ago. It's a really nice board with the Ultra 400 chipset, onboard LAN, onboard sound and mounting holes for high-end air and water cooling.

I might buy another at this price.

Very sweet deal! I started to pick one up a couple of weeks ago, but wanted soundstorm so I picked up the refurb A7N8X Deluxe. If it was at the price two weeks ago, I definitely would have picked it up!

According to this thread, the AN35N has the SPDIF header. You just have to buy the bracket.

EDIT: Apparently, this does not equal SoundStorm. SPDIF out is nice though.

i have the very same mobo.. got it at mwave a few months ago.. works great, although the cpu fan header was shot and i used another onboard one.. fit my big magnetic fan heatsink (cant remember what its called) just fine as well..

oh and i couldnt get the LEDs to work, then again im probably retarded..

This is a great deal... Got one couple of weeks ago ($60), popped in my barton 2500+ and hyperx 3200mem; changed fsb to 200 and voila, XP3200+ rocksolidstable at stock voltages.

All Nforce 2 boards should allow u to change the multi without doing anything special on XP processors. No bios should be needed.

1.) All yes. No VDD voltage though. Not that you need it with the Ultra 400 chipset. I'm at 211 FSB so far. This board allows memory voltage up to 2.7V and CPU voltage up to 2.0V. I haven't changed the AGP voltage because it's not necessary. This board undervolts on the CPU by about 0.05V though, so "2.0" is really 1.95 - 1.97V.

2.) Yes on the multiplier control.

3.) It depends on what was holding you back before.

That is incorrect. Palomino AthlonXPs are locked. You have to unlock them with conductive paint, pin wires or a defogger kit. Only the AthlonMPs, Thoroughbred AthlonXPs and Barton AthlonXPs are unlocked from the factory. If the CPU is unlocked, the nForce2 will have no trouble changing the multiplier. Keep in mind though, some boards will not allow you to go above 12.5 if the processors default mutliplier is not above 12.5. I believe the Shuttle is one of those boards. If you're going for a high FSB, you won't want anything higher than 12.5 anyway.

not true. you need the MCP-T southbridge to get Soundstorm. this motherboard has the lesser MCP southbridge. while you may be able to hook up a digitial output, that will be via the Realtek codec, and not nVidia's excellent Soundstorm sound "card".

Yes, I meant it wil unlock any processor that u physically DON'T have to alter the Actual XP chip as I figure that is what he was talking about. NO bios hack or any other bios thing will unlock the Paliminos, so I figured he wasn't talking about those.
