1. Here's an article on how a different heatpipe works, but the shuttle one works on the same principle.
2. It works great!
3&4. Very easy to install, instead on a crappy clip, there are 4 thumbscrews, one on each corner of the heatpipe. Just screw those suckers down and you're in business. Much less initial pressure is applied than with a clip, so I think you'd really have to try to crack a core.
