Shuttle KPC issue with CPU??

I have a new Shuttle K45 I put together and have a problem with the CPU speeds, it has a Core 2 Duo E6550 which is supposed to run at 2.33 GHz but it will only run at 1.86 GHz with the clock speed at 266 with a multiplier of 7, I of course get a BIOS error on boot stating that the CPU supports 333 and to set the BIOS to optimized settings, but when I do this the thing won?t get past POST, it just stays ?black? and I have to clear the CMOS jumper, I have tried 2 sets of RAM that are both on the supported list there are 2 Dual channel capable 1 GB sticks, I tried A-Data and now I have new OCZ DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) sticks, any advise appreciated.

the k45 uses a 945gc chipset which will support 333fsb cpu's but I think you have to oc the bios manualy to 333

but when your ocing to 333 you also increasing the fsb on eveything else..

have you tried to adjust the mem before oc the fsb?

The default settings should automatically set the fsb to 333 so I shouldn't have to OC anything, but I have tried to set it manually and that makes no difference, both the CPU and the RAM are on the supported lists too so there should be no problems with either, there is a new BIOS out at Shuttle's site but not sure what the fixes are but now I just need to figure out how to flash it without a floppy drive since I am having no luck with various flavors of CD boot discs with the flash utility and file.

I had mixed results with another board that promised FSB1333 support on a 945GC chipset. It actually detected and booted an E6550 at the proper speed, but the PCI-E slots stopped working.

I flashed the BIOS with the latest from Shuttle and still a no-go at 333

the 945 does support 333fsb cpu's
but they dont let you know (some mb makers do let you know)
that when you set the bios to 333fsb on a 945 chip set, you overspec the mb
meaning the fsb for the cpu is 333fsb and the mem is 667 fsb (which is correct)
but your pci and pcie fsb is at a higher fsb (I forgot how much it's oced to it is like 44/115fsb instead of 33/100) which can mess up video(inboard too) and other items thats in those slots

are you using onboard video?
if yes try using a spare pcie card and see what happens

only thing else I can think of is contact shuttle and maybe see if they have a solution or if you can rma, the mb back
