I am looking at getting a gaming box for my dorm room. I am looking at the shuttle SK41G barbone system found here, but one thing worries me, and that is the power supply. Would 200W be enough to power a system like that with a XP2200+ 512 MB ram and a ti4600? And if not, is it possible to upgrade the power supply in these shuttles or are they proprietary. Thanks

I would read this article

If you can find out how many amps are supplied for the +3.3v, +5v, and +12v rails on this 200w ps and compare it to your components' requirements, then it's possible it might be enough. Who knows.

I have one with a 1800+, 256 megs RAM, CDRW, and AIW 9700 Pro

It has never, I mean NEVER, crashed. Period. Without a doubt, it has been the best computer I've built to date.

I just built my brother a gaming box for christmas and he and I are in love with this system. Its the most stable system I have even seen and its very very fast as well.

The system i built him was:

Athlon 1700+
512MB DDR
Shutle SK41G
Lite-On 48x CDRW
60GB Maxtor DiamondMax 9
ATI Radeon 9000 Pro 128MB
NEC 19" monitor
Wireless Mouse and Keyboard (logitech).

The games he plays on it are:

SOF II
CFS 3
GTA 3
NeverWinter Nights
Beyond Earth

He plays all of his games at 1040x768 and has everything set to max and the games couldn't run smoother!

BTW, he is 31 years old.

I have an SK41G as well, with a 1.2 Tbird, GF4 Ti4200 128MB, 512 DDR RAM, 20 GB 7200 RPM Maxtor, 120 GB 7200 RPM WD Special Edition, 48x burner, and it hasn't crashed on me either. It's a really solid machine, and I love it to death. I'm thinking about selling my main comp, and just using this, LOL! But we'll see.

As for the power supply, I think there should be a place that sells it.....hopefully. this totalyl doesn't do you any good, but once I think I saw those PS's being sold in the computer stores in Taiwan. Didn't take a closer look at it, but perhaps I should and see.

I'm only a few bucks short of getting another one for myself, and it WILL replace my primary game PC.

I gave the last one to my wife and she loves it. I took the front plastic cover off, and replaced the white background with a picture of Picaso's Starry Night. It looks less like a PC, and more like an room decoration.

Here is a picture of Picasso's Starry Computer. and Second Picture.. I know, I really need to get a digital camara with a macro lens. These pics were the best I could do.

It's far from perfect, but it was just my first attempt. I will probably re-do it when I have time to do something about the blue bar that is printed on the inside of the plastic front cover. Couldn't think of what to do about the CDRW except replace it with a black one. I thought about sticking yellow stars all over it

Yeah, I guess you can't do much about that aqua colored bar running across the front. :\

wait, how'd you take it off? I'm looking at the face plate, do I need to use an allen wrench?
