Hey ya all,
I am building a pc for a friend who needs something small and compact. So I found the perfect solution for her which is the Shuttle SS51... now the problem is that the motherboard isn't very stable. I shall explain.
The Logitech Cordless Freedom Optical is being used due to the small space again. Now I have problems with both software titles.
Logitech Mouseware 9.73 will not install what so ever. Everytime I am in the installer it just reboots when its "installing devices." Checking the temperatures I see that they are within normal parameters. It happends every single time. This is the same with the iTouch software. It also reboots during installation.
Here is what I have tried to get rid of this problem.
1. Reformatted twice.... once I applied Windows XP SP1 right after installation, the other time I installed all devices first.
2. Tried a different USB slot.
3. Tooled with the BIOS often (I am thinking the problem lies here), but brought it back to defaults when still not satisfactory results. Also updated BIOS to latest official release.
4. Tried installating software with different keyboard & mouse plugged in.
This is not the last of all problems. The second problem is that the Cyberdrive CRW078D (40x16x48x) will not seem to be upgraded by the firmware. No issues exist with the drive online but the latest firmware (130e I believe) fixes issues I have been having with the drive. The drive is currently at firmware version 110e and I have tried the german 122e file and same results. It says that it is a drive mismatch. My question is... is this software Windows XP compatible... if not where are the DOS files.
For the rest this system has been working w/o a problem, but I want mouseware installed as I have used the Freedom Optical in the past and reception greatly increases (especially for the mouse!) when the software is installed.
Specs:
Shuttle SS51 (FS51 motherboard) latest bios
Pentium 4 2.4 GHz (533 MHz model)
Kingston PC2100 DDR RAM
Maxtor 40GB ATA133 7200RPM hard drive
Cyberdrive 40x16x48x
Logitech Cordless Freedom Optical
Windows XP Professional
BTW installing a different OS is out of the question as she wants Windows XP... that was one of her 3 requests.
Thanks!!
