I am going to be picking one of these bad boys up. My question is. . .will it be able to handle a Radeon 9700? Or do I have to go "down" to a Geforce 4? The power supply is only 200 watts ( I believe). Thanks for the info.

From the last part of Anand's review, I would guess that it could. Anyone know for sure?

I will also agree that is could from anand's review. I think where you get the "extra" power is that there is only room for one of each drive. So your chances of underpowering your compnents is poor.

200W doesn't mean that much ..what really matters is can the PSU supply enought Current at 3.3V (or is it 5V)........
you can always change the powersupply if you want......its 1U for factors ain't it. ?...just make sure it isn't too long...

Yeah...... I got one..
.about the powersupply its a 1U......the one which comes with it is 190mm long....
if you want to change it..try these 250 and 300 1U supplies from enermax......As for holding up with a 4600Ti or a 9700 Pro...it probabaly would work fine....

The PSU which comes with it admittedly isn't of such a high quality..compared to your SPI's , Deltas or Enermax's

Try This enermax
And by the way...the shuttle FS51 motherboard dones't run very well above 133 FSB ( 533 Fsb) sooo if you are planinng to OC...use 400 Mhz FSB P4s.........you might also have to change the voltage by VID " pin wrapping"..

Yes, the Radeon 9700 will work fine inside the SS51. The link is to a photo I took of the demo SS51 in the ATI booth. It ran just fine the entire time either sitting in the DX9 demos, or running 3d Mark.

I also have one in my SS51, loaded with a WD 12gb SE drive, plus a Plextor Burner/DVD. Works great.

I know it's a slightly different system, but...
I have an AMS Gbox (the *other* mini system, with the handle). This system only has a 150 Watt power supply, and I have a P4 1.8a, 80GB 7200RPM hard drive, GeForce4 Ti4600, and a 32X CDR in it, and it runs fine. FWIW.

I have an SS51G with the following:

2.26GHz P4 CPU
512MB Corsair Memory
ATI AIW Radeon 8500DV Video Card
Turtle Beach Santa-Cruz Sound Card
2 x Western Digital WD1200JB Hard Drives (No floppy)
Lite-On 16x DVD Player (Black)
Plextor PlexWriter 40/12/40U External USB 2.0 CD-RW

Peripherals (not that this is pertinent):

Dell 1900FP Monitor
Klipsch Promedia 5.1 Speakers
Microsoft Natural Keybord Pro (beige...eeeeeewwwwww)
Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0

Anyways, I have about as much as you could possibly fit inside one of these, and everything seems to be running fine. I wouldn't worry about it. Nothing against AnandTech, but in the future, you'd probably be better off asking your SS51G questions in the Small Form Factor & Quiet PCS Forum over at ViaHardware. People who actually work for Shuttle frequent that forum, and you will get quick answers to most any question. There's a much higher concentration of people who know about the Shuttle barebones systems.
