Siberian Husky and Yorkiepoo? Can they get along?

I currently have a Yorkiepoo (Yorkshire and Poodle mix) but have a chance to receive a Siberian Husky, a dog which I have always wanted.

I read that Siberian huskies can generally get along with medium and large dogs, but I was wondering if anyone has any experience with a Siberian Husky and a Yorkie(poo). My dog is about the size of a cat.

I'm leaning towards no, even if the Husky is a female, but want to make sure before I turn down the offer.

Are you getting a puppy or adult? If adult I'd be more inclined to believe you will have problems.

To be honest, I'm not sure if he does or not. My dad brought his Lab/German Shepard mix one time but my dog kept more to himself, mostly because the Lab was overly hyper.

The Husky would be a puppy.

I also have a cat...I don't know if that will make a major difference or not.

What do you mean? I'm not too familiar with them. I read that getting along with a Husky is a 50/50. Is this what you're referring to?

Puppies are always a best bet starting out.

Have you researched this breed in general? They like cooler temps, decent yards to play in (expect lots of digging!) and generally get bored if ignored/left alone and can get destructive.

Hmmm yeah I just read about that. Looks like I'll have to turn down the offer. The 100+ degree heat during the summer, combined with my absence during the semester, will make a bad combination.

My parents have had two Huskies and while they are pretty good dogs they can have a wild streak if not properly trained. They love to run so a big yard is pretty much a must.
