I don't bother with the cashback stuff, still a nice deal. Those Giftcards are a PITA too, hard to find online stores that will let you use them as a partial payment. For example, Newegg does NOT. IF a store is going to participate in the rebate you'd think you can use it there, and you could use it at Newegg but only for an item costing the exact amount or less. :frown:

Anyway, good deal, and worth the hassle.

the gift cards are easy to use...

you can use them to pay partial credit card / electric bills , cable etc. any online bill pay will take a partial payment. i used some before from a sandisk rebate thing for paying my ebay seller fees is another place to use it.

Didn't think about that, I guess I will use to partial pay my cellphone bill when I get this one. Still would be nice if more online stores accepted them.

um... do you search for 'newegg' through bing cashback after logging in, or just through the generic bing search page? Intuition tells me it would be the former, but oh well

EDIT: oh well, if tis only 6% regardless, I guess I could just browse to newegg and do it to be sure. thanks anyway!

I got same deal from Zipzoomfly with 20% CB.
$84-$10(MIR)-$16.80(20%CB)=$57 total.

I didn't see anyone with the Thurston Howell III user name. I get the Gilligan's Island reference, but not sure why you used that name and what context you meant it in. Was it a joke or something? If so I didn't get it.

I would guess that he is implying that he is rich since he
doesn't mess with the cash back stuff ....

Has anyone been able to use your $10 visa debit card? Also if you read the fine print it makes it seem like this is an actual account not just a rebate $10 card. Also in the fine print it says after 6 month they will start charging your account $3.00 a month for their services. I hope this "REBATE" isn't going to affect my credit score as appearing as another credit card account...

Tried using this as a partial payment at the grocery store, pizza place and BJ's Wholesale Club for gas. Tried as a debit and credit card, and no deal...

yes it is used as a credit card. and there is only a charge if there is a balance.

just use the full $10.00 somewhere and cut it up and throw it away.

do not use over the $10.00 amount, or you will get huge overcharge fees.

i had no problem useing my $20.00 card at Home Depot, put $20.00 towards my purchase and payed the remaining with cash.

If you use one of these rebate cards as partial payment, do NOT use another credit card for the balance. Half of the ones I have gotten have been flaky including one that a month after using it charged my regular credit card for the rebate card amount saying payment was denied or something. I never found any way to complain about any of the faulty cards either, just dead end voice jail.

$20??? Did I get stiffed with only a $10 card from Hitachi? I bought my Hitachi with the 10% BING and -$10 instant and $10 card would get me the $48 price but it's not adding up to that... Was I supposed to have received a $20 card from Hitachi?

So how do I use the card for only a $10 amount? This seems like a scam they would have sent us this card like this where there is only 1 way to use it without avoiding huge fees which would probably amount to more than the $10 this was supposed to be a rebate for.

so this is what we have been reduced to?

The cards are now smarter than the people trying to use them.

It's not the card that is the problem...it's the tricky bastards at the rebate house and the card issuer that are trying to rip you off right under your nose! :Q

Easiest way is to fill up with $10 of gas. Go inside the store first to charge it, and run it as a credit card. It won't work as a debit because they ask for a pin #. If your balance is $0.00 after your done using it you shouldn't have anymore problems. If you leave 0.01 cent the credit card company will have the opportunity to start charging fees after 6 months. Make sure it's zero balance.

I personally don't like these cards either and avoid them if possible. The last rebate I sent in had the option for one of these silly cards or a check. I took the check rather than deal with the BS associated with these cards.

Damn, didn't realize that some of these cards "charge" YOU after a certain amount of time. How does that work? They send you a bill? I threw away a card about two months ago (don't remember the type) that had about $0.03 left on it. Hope it doesn't bite me!
