Then it was worth it as that's about the cost it would be to make something like this. Really it would be a simple matter of getting the following parts:

Suction cup (to attach to top of can)
12V Motor (or lower voltage if need be) to turn the can (duh)
Some kind of container to hold the can & ice

Simply attach the motor to a swingarm on the container and attach the suction cup to the end of the motor. Then you simply put the can in the container, surround it with ice, drop the motor & turn it on.

That's if you're lazy and you need to have something mechanical do it, same principle works if you insert it into a bucket of ice or some other container, twirl it with your hand for about 30 seconds and you're good to go.
You just described an ice cream maker.

30 for that? what a waste just get a bucket or your sink and fill with cold water with some ice cubes from the freezer and add salt.... then add your cans or bottles.... saves 30 dollars and chills just as fast

You could probably get a cheap motor at Radio Shack and a cheap plastic bucket. Cut a small hole in the bucket for the wire to connect to a battery. Fit a rubber coaster on the motor.... Get pissed off when it doesn't work, throw all the crap in the garbage and drink your damn beer.

for beer? come on now....heh

it does sound weird, but they do it in east asia... malaysia, polynesia, philippines, indonesia, etc. they pour a little beer at a time in a scotch glass with ice (beer on the rocks?). not too bad actually... but they do that cause the smaller stores don't sell cold bottles in quantity-- electricity is expensive.

this deal is cold!

Whats the point of recalling a deal from 2 months ago and thread crapping??

Dunno but I appreciated the little culture lesson. Interesting.

Interesting....I was thinking it was a mini-fridge, which people also ask 'What's the point if you have a regular fridge?'...well in my house the point is about 100' of walking and 20 something stairs

People complain about 19.95 for cold drinks but drop the price of a P4-3.06 on a water cooling to get that same speed at twice the cost .

The budda was the best part of the site though for me.

Odd. I've spent quite a bit of time in several of those places (especially in the philippines) and havn't drank any "beer on the rocks". I have drank a lot of beer that had ice formed outside of it though from being on ice. I first started going overseas in the 70's. They used to deliver ice to the small stores on trikes (motorcycles with sidecars) so they could keep the beer and soda's on ice. Beer on the rocks sucks big time, I'll take the scotch if it comes to drinking on the rocks.

I think the price may have dropped to only 19.99. This does not include shipping and I still can't spend that much for it! Just drink them fast enough so they don't have time to get warm, that's the way to do it!
