Side panel fan?

Should the side fan blow in or out.
I have 2 fans in front blowing in, two blowing out the back, one power supply fan blowing out into the case facing down, and the power supply fan blowing out the back.

Most people I know have side fans positioned over the AGP slot, so they have the fan blowing in so it passes over the video card. If the fan is near the top of the case it might be better to have it blowing out, so the hot air is removed from the case.

is a side fan really needed?

My case doesnt have good ventalation, it has 1 80mm intake and a 60mm exhaust fan.

But my case temp is at 20c and the cpu is at 41c idle.

Cpu used to be at 38c but my globalwin heatsink clip broke so now im using a volcano 6cu.

snidy I have an Antec 1080 case and I also have two fans blowing in and two exhaust and power supply exhausting. I recently turned my side panel fan around and have it blowing out of the case but it is purely personal preference. I also get better results by blowing air off my heatsink where most people have their fan blowing on the heatsink so just depends on you. Try it both ways and keep it in the position that performs the best.

This is a good point. Blowing air at the CPU might interfere with the normal operation of the CPU hsf. The best advice is to try both ways.

I will test my case and CPU temps blowing in, and out, but I think it benefits the graphics card to have fresh air blowing right over it.
