Sidegrade to i7-4770 or wait for i7-4820k

I right now have an i7-3930k and I don't overclock anymore. I was thinking about selling my i7-3930k and motherboard and sidegrading to an i7 4770 and a Z87 motherboard or maybe waiting for the i7-4820k and just keep my motherboard. Also if I go for an i7 4770, I'm not sure if I will get a C2 revision of the Z87 at this point in time.

Even if you don't overclock, there's no reason to sell your 3930K. It's a good processor. Even with the money you get back from selling it's not worth it to go SB-E -> Haswell/IB-E. The i7-4820K is an overclocking chip as well, so I see no reason to switch. Definitely don't get the 4770(K) if that means paying for a new mobo!

Sell it and get an i7 920

I have a i7 920 a long time ago and sold it. i7 920 has lower core peformance than i7 3930k and is clocked lower. ZGR, I mainly game on my PC but do use Photoshop once in a while and the usual internet browsing and business purposes. My main playing games is Flight Simulator X and the more cores, the faster the load times and texture rendering in that game, but no frame rate increase past 2 cores. A CPU with higher single threaded performance should improve both load times and frame rates in FSX however, that's why I was thinking about going for an i7 4770 or the upcoming 4820k, I might go for the 4930k if it will perform better than the 4820k in gaming when it releases, I'm just not sure if I want to go for the 4930k instead since the base clock is 3.4GHz on it and the base clock on the 4820k is 3.7GHz.

Wait it out. Don't do any thing sudden. I think/hear the new chips will be out in ? 2 months or so? correct me if i am wrong

Waiting on game loading screen is more of an issue for the hard disk and RAM, the when game is loading, the CPU at this stage doesn't serve anymore purpose than moving files from HDD to RAM. Texture rendering is also matter solely of graphics card, unless your simulator is designed to use only CPU/software rendering.

Your proposal of moving to 4770K makes sense for what you do, but the observed speed increase will likely not be noticeable. But, with the money you make from selling your existing combo, you could get something else like an SSD that would really make a difference in addition to the higher per core IPC of the 4770.

I wouldn't even bother upgrading. Your 3930k is essentially just as fast. I would overclock it if you need some performance gain.

3930K is one of the fastest processors available still. I don't understand why you even consider changing it. Bump this thread in 2 years.

Why would you downgrade from the enthusiast platform to the mainstream platform?
