Yeah, I was binging "The Good Place" with the wife and was done so I tuned in to the oscars and caught it just in time. The wife thought it was staged but I saw Will laugh, then look at his wife and I knew it was real. We know who wears the pants in that family. Oh, am I allowed to say that???

Not that shit dude. He saw it was hurtful to her and he knew it was hurtful. Come on already, have you not lived?

Remember these two have a history of not liking each other and I'm fairly certain Rock was aware of Jada's medical condition.... heck I
knew about it and I couldn't care less about this sort of thing.

Smith's wife's shaved head would have been 100% fair game if she just shaved it as a fashion-statement.

Seriously would it be fine to make fun of her for a "missing boob" after breast-cancer surgery for example? (after all its just a "cosmetic issue" too women don't "need" breasts)

It wouldn't be fine for a random guy to hit a comedian in a club because the comedian made fun of his wife's boobs.

I'm not saying you have to think the joke was okay, but regardless of how appropriate it was or not, physical assault is not okay.

Also, again, if you are so thinned skinned that there is any reason you might punch a comedian making fun of you or your wife, please never go to a comedy club, it is obviously not for you.

I've been to many comedy clubs and (so far) not a single assault!

The situation last night wasn't nearly the same as some random comedian making jokes at the expense of a stranger beyond the fact a joke was involved.

Yeah, Will Smith went there knowing there was an extremely high likelihood he'd get picked on. Considering he was front row and favored to win one of the most prestigious awards, and making fun of celebrities is exactly what happens every single year.

Also I know where you were attempting to go with the breast cancer, but it is still apples and oranges. Jada was never at risk of dying from her condition. The breast cancer survivor had to have her body altered to save her life. There is a lot of pent up fear, grief, and pain wrapped into that experience. Even then, many women that have been through it can find humor in it, as my grandmother used to.

Thing is HE wasn't the one picked on.... if he were I doubt we'd be discussing anything like this.

I think even Chris Rock has figured out he went too far here not sure how its even debatable.

And if you don't approve of the "missing breast" analogy how about suggesting a better one if you have it? The essence of communication is having the other party understand what you meant and in that sense it works.

He's 57? Seems a little young to be called a senior citizen.

I won't lie, I cackled like an evil witch watching that slap. I then watched it on replay at least 321 times.

People making jokes about Michael Jackson's vitiligo. Personally, I have vitiligo, but, as I am white, it is barely noticeable other than the fact that I don't tan well. Really wouldn't GaS if someone made a joke about it. Darker skinned people are probably more sensitive about it, still never appropriate to resort to violence over a bad joke.

Doesn't make sense...he's apparently OK with his wife fucking other guys, (admitted that they have an "open marriage" but NOT OK with a comedian friend making a joke about her alopecia?

AARP full membership eligibility is age 50 (but anybody can become a member regardless).

I watched the clip about 3 times, and it felt a little staged to me. Rock's head whiplashes super fast to the side and back, but then he acts as if it was just a nothingburger. Kudos to him if that was a genuine de-escalation (but what choice does he have? He's not fighting Smith on live TV).

Some guy slapped someone for disrespecting his wife.
News at 11

"Jada boycotting the Oscars is like me boycotting Rihanna's panties," Rock said during his opening monologue. "I wasn't invited."
"Jada's mad her man Will was not nominated for 'Concussion.'" Rock said in reference to the 2015 football film Will Smith starred in. "I get it. It's not fair that Will was this good and didn't get nominated. It's also not fair that Will was paid $20 million for [the 1999 film] 'Wild Wild West.'"

Pinkett Smith commented on the jokes days later when asked about them by paparazzi.
"Hey look, it comes with the territory, we gotta keep it moving," she said. "We got a lot of stuff we gotta handle, a lot of stuff going on in our world right now. We gotta keep it moving."

In 2018 Smith posted a birthday tribute on his verified Instagram account to his ex-wife Sheree Zampino, who is the mother of his adult son Trey.
"Happy Bday, @shereezampino. #BestBabyMamaEver! I Love You, Ree-Ree," the caption read.
Rock left a comment saying, "Wow. You have a very understanding wife," according to E! to which Zampino responded, "Don't hate."

Sounds like a grudge. Consider if it was someone else who saw their Loved one hurt. This is the start of many a Bar Room brawl.

I just checked it out. I'm pretty sure I have NEVER seen a movie that Will Smith appeared in. I also DID NOT watch the Oscars last night.

I have no idea what that joke was that Chris Rock cracked last night. I do think Rock has been a pretty funny guy. I've played some of his stuff on my radio show.

I mean yeah, all things considered if a bitch slap for saying something out of line is the worst thing that happened to Chris Rock that night, he's probably doing a lot better than a whole lot of people in the world right now.

Will Smith should have kept his calm and gotten over it. Hell, he was straight up laughing until he noticed she was pissed. Ricky Gervais roasted people years ago at the Golden Globes. You didn't see anyone try to assault him. If Will had left it alone and made a statement afterwards about how he was offended, no one would be upset and it would be the mature thing to do. Hitting Chris wasn't the answer and it's only going to hurt his image.

Listening to his acceptance speech, which was a convoluted meandering stupid speech, I bet he had a few too many and showed the a-hole he can be.

I really can't believe Will Smith wasn't at least escorted out of the show. There's not many places that would allow a host / performer to be assaulted, and then allow the person to remain.

Being rich and famous can fix easily most minor problems.
