Again,
for all of you that belive invading Iraq ould be wrong action to take,
let your voice be heard

Dear friend,
I'm hoping you can join me on an emergency petition from
citizens around the world to the U.N. Security Council. The petition's going to be delivered to the 15 member states of the Security Council on THURSDAY, MARCH 6.

If hundreds of thousands of us sign, it could be an enormously important and powerful message -- people from all over the world joining in a single call for a peaceful solution. But we really need everyone who agrees to sign up today. You can
do so easily and quickly at:

http://www.moveon.org/emergency/

The stakes couldn't really be much higher. A war with Iraq
could kill tens of thousands of Iraqi civilians and inflame
the Middle East. According to current plans, it would require an American occupation of the country for years to come. And it could escalate in ways that are horrifying to imagine.

We can stop this tragedy from unfolding. But we need to speak together, and we need to do so now. Let's show the Security Council what world citizens think.

Thank you.

no.

Will you ask the victims of Saddam to sign this also?

Will you ask the Marsh Arabs to sign this?

Will you ask this Iraqi to sign?
"In one case, a family suspected of involvement with opposition groups was tortured by security officials. The wife was stripped naked, beaten and had cigarettes stubbed out all over her body while her children were made to watch. The husband had his arms tied behind his back, was hung from a hook and later had some of his toes and fingers shot off. The unidentified couple eventually bribed an Iraqi intelligence officer and left the country."

Will you ask the families of the 2000 prisioners Saddam had executed to sign?
"The former captain told RFE/RL's Iraq Service details of how 2,000 prisoners were executed on a single day in 1998 in one of Iraq's most notorious prisons -- the Abu Ghraib prison near Baghdad.

He said most of those executed were being held on vague charges of taking part in anti-government activities and many of their cases were pending appeal. But the appeal process suddenly ended when Saddam's son Qusay arrived at the prison on March 15, 1998, and surrounded it with his Special Security Forces. "

Will you ask the families of the missing 600 Kuwaitis to sign?
"Kuwait wants to know what happened to more than 600 people it says disappeared after Iraq's invasion of Kuwait in 1990."

I'm just curious who you want to support your petition.

Good idea! While you're at it, add all the pictures of all the people of all the Iraqi people that Saddam had gassed or executed while he was in office.

I absolutely wouldn't sign the petition for many reasons, the least of which is that the U.N. and the Security Council in particular are irrelevant in today's world.

I agree. The UN Sec Council has done everything in it's power to be against the best interests of the US. Personally, I could give a rat's ass about any other county. The USA is the only country in my world. You don't like it? Go live in Iraq.

halik, your sig says you live in the States. What country are you from?

Yes, other countries have human rights abuses. Tell me how stopping those in Iraq is wrong because of those in other countries?

WTF? I feel really sorry for you, your view of the world is twisted, arrogant and DEFINIVELY wrong. I dont think theres no point in arguing at this point...

And you people wonder why the rest of the world sees americans as self sentered egoists...

I guess you don't think Saddam has killed enough people already. How many people should he be allowed to murder before he is removed?

I would sign a petition that condemns France, Germany and China for violating sanctions and allowing this threat to grow to the point that American lives now have to be risked to once again clean up a mess made by Europe.

Do you have a link to that petition?

Okay, I'm pro-war, but I think this thread is the wrong place to express that. The man just want to get some petition out, and by flaming him you are just keeping this thread alive. Kind of counter-productive if you ask me.

If this War was just for ahen"Liberating Iraqi's" from Saddam I would be totally against it. I'm for Disarming Hussien with Military action because to me it is unacceptable that he have the weapons to disrupt and control the worlds main energy source. If we are going to start worrying about oppressed people I think there are other candidates that would be more receptive and worthy in my POV than the Iraqi's

Thanks for the link halik.

I signed it and passed it on to my coworkers and family. We should get a good 30+ from this. Please continue posting links like these. It may not help but it shows solidarity when no political party has the spine to stand up.
