First off I got this to and didn't bother to read it. Now that you've posted it I've just wasted some of my time :|

yeh pretty stupid idea. If there is a bomb in the cargo hold, the hijackers would just set it off the moment they lost control of the airplane.

I think that putting in some sort of security door to the cockpit would be a much cheaper, simpler, and ultimately more effective solution.

Great idea. Now we just need to kill all hackers before they turn into hijackers

<< i suggest we lose a few first class seats and give the cockpit some real protection. >>

if you're going in that direction why not get rid of the pilots altogether & have a pilotless plane!

bacillus, I think you are missunderstanding. If we drop a few first class seats, and put in some sort of a secured area, then it makes it all the harder for a terrorist to actually get to the cockpit.

As it currently stands, a halfway decent sized guy can knock down the door to the cock pit. This needs to be corrected. Some sort of bullet proof, unbreakable barrier needs to seperate the pilots from the rest of the plane.

Hey don't get rid of the first class seats, I ride up there. Get rid of some coach seats, and push first class back 6 feet.

It's easy to criticize other people's ideas when you have none of your own. It's a logical idea, even if it has some flaws.

Interestingly, these ideas were bandied about back in the 80s. They are certainly not new. I just think it's disappointing that a bunch of computer geeks with no experience in this sort of thing would think that their knowledge configuring Windows XP and wireless home networks gives them the carte blanche to use their media access to publish about their ill-educated musings. It is really just bad taste in my opinion.

the dude who wrote the article really needs a new picture.

they thought of that, and the end result would be that door ripping apart the airplane if there was a depressurization on either side of the door. the current door has pop-outs to protect against that, and its faster to take out the pop-outs than remove the door itself.

The terrorists will find away around it, just like the hackers and crackers ( given enough time ) can infiltrate ANY prog.
I think they should strip search everyone who gets on plane and accept No luggage that way you know nobodys going
to hijack, but even then that won't stop a bomb from going off.
just my 2 c
