Silly quirk or reasonable action?

Anytime I'm leaving to go out some where and even when I am already out and about, I always do pocket checks to make sure I still have on me my phone, wallet, and keys. I'll be anywhere and just quickly pat myself down and make sure they are all in the pockets I keep them in.

Am I OCD? Do any of you guys do the same thing?

I do that too. I will actually say the name of everything I should have.

"Wallet, Keys, Cellphone..."

When I am satisfied, I can go.
But I was diagnosed with OCD so...

Not that often. I do it often enough to make sure nothing fell out or I didn't leave something sitting some where.

That's not OCD, it's smart. People who don't do that lose things sometimes and don't realize it until the next day.

I am very OCD about it when Im getting ready to fly at the airport, i check for tickets and passport and wallet about 1000 times

I always make sure I have my apartment keys. The apartment's empty for most of the day besides me, and if I get locked out, I'm kind of screwed until one of the other guys shows up, which can be late evening. If I lose my key, I have to pay for new locks on the front door and the bedroom doors - it's a campus apartment, so one key opens multiple locks.



Now, if you feel compelled to check 5 times per pocket and always in a certain order, maybe that's doing a bit much.

I hardly consider making sure you have those things to be OCD. Those three things are pretty basic.

I check for my cell phone fairly frequently. I don't check for my wallet but I should.

it's a little ocd... I do it too. I have to actually physically touch everything, though. wallet, cellphone, keys, glasses, ipod.

I do the same. You find out right away if you left your phone somewhere. But on days when I leave my phone home by accident, I freak out all day because I am always checking for it.

nah, not OCD. Its smart to always check to make sure you have what you need before you leave and to make sure you still have them later on.

I do the same. You find out right away if you left your phone somewhere. But on days when I leave my phone home by accident, I freak out all day because I am always checking for it.

I do the same thing. I feel so out of place and uncomfortable if I don't have my cell phone or wallet on my person.

Yeah, before I leave the apt for work I pat down my pockets a couple times, and one last time before I shut the door behind me. It's just preventative, so I don't have to worry about locking myself out.

My spouse counts out loud when he's on his way out the door to work. 4 things (keys, sunglasses, wallet, badge), ONE, TWO, THREE, damnit, where's FOUR?? :laugh:
