250-300 for a case?! for something that does nothing but hold components that is a ton of money.

Though it all honesty it does look like a really nice case, what other cases have that nifty removeable motherboard tray?

Well it might be cheaper than egg but hell no im buyin anything like that for $250... i dont care if it cools the cpu and vidcard... for $150 i can buy super coolin for any cpu and vidcard combined and also buy a nice case for 100

You know.........I keep reading people slamming expensive cases, motherboards, processors, etc., and I always wonder why.

It's all about perceived quality vs. cost.

In this case, and excuse the pun, show me an under-$100 case that can support 200# standing on top of it....with its sides off. The Silverstone TJ-07 and TJ-09 both can.....easily. Both have been said to be so structurally sound and strong that both appear able to be driven over with a truck and still not get damaged. Whether that's actually true or not, a $100 Cooler Master case does NOT give that impression when you use it...........but these do.

Why do some people insist on spending over $200 on any computer case anyway? Could it be that the expensive cases have a better fit and finish than the lesser cases? Could it be that the expensive cases are built better? Have fewer issues?


Speaking of that last question......and adding this comment made:

I'm sure you can.....and one super cooling case you must be referring to is the Antec Nine Hundred.....but did Silverstone have to recall the initial production run of the TJ-09 becasue they screwed up the rear panel's slots and how they fit with motherboards? (Hint: the top slot was useless on the initial run of the 900....couldn't use a video card in that slot which negated the case's use with a LOT of motherboards.....until Antec recalled the cases left on the market and changed the production.....but of course made no attempt to recall the cases already in the hands of individuals unless they complained.)

Haven't seen Silverstone or Lain-Li or Mountain Mods cases having those teething problems with initial releases of new cases. Maybe the upper end of case manufacturers just do a better job in manufacture and design.

While it's true that one can buy a cheap case and be satisfied and have decent cooling....not everyone is satisfied with one that's OK or alright. Some want the highest quality they can own....the best in fit, finish, structural rigidity, design, and overall quality. Those upper end cases are not cases one disposes of in 6 months because there's another new bling case out there....these are cases one holds onto for years.


In the end.....to each his own. Personally, I haven't spent over $200 for a case.....yet. But the only reason is that I have yet to find that elusive "perfect" case that will become my long-term home for my components. When I do, $250 is not a high price to pay for quality or durability....not at all.


Also, quit crapping in others' threads. If you don't have anything constructive to say, just keep your yap shut and your posts to yourself. Sheesh............

Nice case. It will be on my short list when I get rid of my P180 even though I am now a hugh fan of Antec customer support. My other case is a 7 year old Supermicro 750 for which I spent at least $200.

I also don't understand how people complain about case prices and then buy a mid-level video card for over $200 every year. If you buy a decent case it should last through a lot of upgrade cycles.

FYI, Sundial's shipping charges are astronomical ... $50 ground to my location.

For those interested in this case, check your local MicroCenter (if you have one) or on-line check out Directron.

The construction of these cases is impressive and of the highest quality, bar none. Only the "old" CoolerMaster aluminum cases came near, and the people behind those cases left CM and went to Silverstone. Unless/until you've actually used one of these cases, you look kinda silly criticizing them solely on price. Sorta like PS's, you get what you pay.

P.S. to RKS - Still got my SM SC750 case too. In fact, it still holds its original system, OC'd 'Celly 300A (450) on an Abit BH6 with Samsung memory.

You might want to check Directron for this case. If my memory is right, their prices are slightly lower and shipping has always been very resonable.
I've never spent this kind of money on a case but damn it's a sweet looking case.
It does have a couple of competitors though. The Lian Li S80 is pretty similar and has some nice features including those aluminium(say it with a Brit accent) hard drive heat sinks...yeah so the ridges on the hs's aren't oriented in the direction of the airflow...still looks like a good idea.
And the new special edition of the Antec P182 with the stainless steel front looks pretty sweet too...if you can get yer heands on it.

I certainly don't intend on standing on top of my PC case. If you're subjecting your PC to that kind of abuse, you should be concerned about more than just the case.
As for as recycling the case for a new build, I would rather get a new case that's affordable. Style and intelligent design doesn't have to be expensive. I think DIY builders would rather put the money into what goes inside.

I agree that there is a market for a case in this price range but the market is limited. I you like this case and have the funds for it - go for it. There are literally hundreds a cases to choose from out there. I looked at this case and it's tasteful but plain - wounldn't make the first cut at half the price.

did you see anywhere where i said i wanted to sit or have people sit on the case? someone else had said that, not me. so since you are echoing the whole "if you got funds, go for it" then whats the point of coming to this thread and saying its not worth it? i don't think anyone cares about YOUR preferences in cases.
