Question Silvery ESD-prevention bags that GPU's/mobos come in - can you tape them shut, or does that compromise the metal coating?

1. I need to store a GPU in one of the silvery ESD-prevention bags that GPU's/mobos come in. Can you use Scotch/adhesive tape to seal the bag shut, or does that compromise the metal layer (rip the metal off when you remove the tape) - is the metal layer usually on the inside or outside of the bag?

2. The bag is a larger one for a mobo, while the thing I'm putting in it is a GPU. Can I fold the bag in half since the bag is so much larger than the GPU and the GPU is loose inside it, or should this be avoided because creasing the bag will compromise the metal layer?

The point in the bag is to create a physical barrier between your videocard components and things which can static shock it.

So yes, you stuff it in a motherboard antistatic bag... roll it up even, and then scotch tape it without any ill effects.
You may even want to put in a silca pack if you have any extra like from a vitamin bottle or something, to keep the inside of the bag humid free.
