According to the feature, picked over by NeoGaf, the next SimCity will be set 20 years after previous entries and feature organic cities that won’t have to stick to America’s regimented block system.

"Organic cities" sounds like gameplay streamlining, they're gonna mess this up...

Man, talk about some negative nancies on this board. I'm not sure how you get that from "organic cities". If anything, it may mean that city development can be more natural and less of a grid-pattern--London vs. NYC.

There's barely any news on the games and you fucktards are already crying how the game's already fucked up, lol.

While its obviously very early, I would point out two things. 1)Its EA publishing it. And 2)the last SimCity game was Societies. With that in mind, I won't get any hopes up for this.

I guess you dont remember simcity societies.

Not getting my hopes up about this at all. Societies sucked balls, cities XL was a valiant effort but nonetheless also sucked balls. Given the trend of city simulators sucking balls after simcity 4 I predict the trend will continue.

If it dosent suck and EA pulls off some fun deep simulation with just enough stats and stuff to keep the pros happy yet still being accessible and fun plus have it built on an awesome multi threaded PC optimized engine I will not be playing it because I will be six feet under having died of shock.

Man, I would love to see a true successor to SimCity 4! Fingers crossed SimCity 5 is a true sequel, and not a dumbed-down imitation that has landed so far.

Game will be loaded with micro-transactions. You want that new monorail to cut down on pollution? Better be prepared to cough up $5.

If there's a valid concern, it would be this.

SimCity Societies was a joke, but it wasn't a true sequel, it was a spin off like The Sims. And speaking of The Sims, they really hit it out of the park with that game.

I find myself going back to Sims 3 a lot, I never buy any of the expansions and stick with the vanilla, which is still pretty enjoyable.

The one thing I will agree with is that the regimented block system did kind of suck. You would think after 3 variations, they would have made 4 so you could curve highways/roads.

The graphics look good, but that's really all we got at this point. Might need to dig up my SC4+RH discs and reinstall.

I wonder if they can put in a complexity level slider or somesuch. all the way to the left and you do little more than plop zones and roads down, all the way to the right and you can adjust rate charges for utilities based on time of day.

Digging around a bit more, it's starting to sound like they've been waiting for the Hardware to catch up on this one to do what they want with a full 3D Engine.

Some comments dug up from some Engineers from the previous version (SC4) indicate they were thinking Quad Core or better CPU and much faster Graphics with 1GB-2GB - which they were roughly expecting around 2013 +/- 1 year.

Sounds valid, considering with my FX System the large maps could bog a little on SC4.

Haven't loaded up SC4 with my new system yet.

I can't find my SC4 disc anywhere, but if I buy it on steam again, can the game be modded to support widescreen?

This is game I'd be fully willing to upgrade my entire computer, and pay full price at release for, if it's a true successor to SC4. But hopefully my SB and 6950 are enough as is.

SC4 is pretty cool and all, but it's just so incredibly dated at this point. Yes there are mods that improve it drastically, but it takes too much time to mod that game well. Every time I try to start a city now, I'm always like, "hmm... maybe I should find a mod for this" and then go searching for it for like an hour, along with others, and never get around to actually building the city.

ha, we are being awfully negative here aren't we?

I certainly hope this will be awesome, so I will try to remain positive at least until we start getting definitive information.

Modern day sequels + the console nerf + DLC money grubbing + the casual gamer money grab = piles of crap.

What's not to be negative about? Do you honestly believe Sim City 5 won't be a casual game more geared toward the highly successful Sims franchise? If you believe it might be SC4 + any direction placement + more depth + more buildings + more strategy... dream on.
