no doubt, I'll buy it eventually... but I'm holding out until the server problems have been sorted out and it goes on sale.

definitely not worth a $60 release-day buy imho

"Could not log in to SimCity server due to network error."

And this is not a prime time. Absolutely un-fucking-acceptable.

I can see them fixing the servers relatively soon, but working in a corporate tech environment, I can also seeing it taking at least 2-3 weeks.

They can only move as fast as technology will allow them. Say they have to set up the server, it has to have the proper build put on and then adjusted accordingly to the location they designate it. Seeing as how they should have had this set up.... months before they even released the game who knows how long this will truly take them.

If they have enough GBs and Ghz, they can create a virtual server, etc!

Blah.

Anyway, here's hoping they get it back up 100% by the weekend.

Or they can release a patch that lets you play in your own private region with your own private city, without any internet connection.

the reviews at Amazon are great, I highly recommend giving them a good read..

You know things are bad when your Metacritic score is lower than Aliens: Colonial Marines and just higher than The War Z.

The most helpful favorable review:

You'd think I'd be mega unhappy like everyone else at the constant waiting and lack of actually being able to play a game I purchased.

Well, you'd be wrong.

The hours upon hours since launch that I haven't been able to log in, whether it be sitting in queues, or server busy messages, or just plain old not working screens, I've managed to do a heap of things that I never do when I'm locked in my man cave playing video games.

I've washed the dishes, the laundry, changed the oil in the car, mopped the floors, dusted, did a spot of gardening, greeted my children who I hadn't really seen since Christmas, walked the dog, asked how my wife's day has been and listened to the entire response, restocked the groceries and many more things! My family has never been happier that they've got a father and husband again.

In fact, I feel like Simcity has given me a new lease on life. This wouldn't have been possible without the seemingly crazy decision to have constant online connections and server side save points even for single player.

So I can only thank EA and Maxis. Your failures have been my rewards. 5 stars!

if it was on steam and didn't have all that internet connection crap, I'd have bought it.

Or you can just download the crack that has been released that lets you do that... (edit: be warned, it's probably a trojan or other malware anyway)

This is the company you are defending

http://pastebin.com/mFMt375v

Adrian: I am sorry for any inconvenience that this has caused. I can offer you a 15% off coupon from Origin with your next purchase.
Adrian: I am sorry, but I can not offer you a refund.
you: Why can't you offer me a refund?
you: Your product is defective
Adrian: Return Policy
you: I can call my bank and have the refund done that way.
Adrian: I can offer to assist you with any trouble shooting issues.
you: Why can Amazon users get refunds but I can't?
Adrian: That is understandable, but I must inform you that if you choose to dispute it, your account will be banned.
Adrian: I am sorry, but I can not speak on another company's policy.
Adrian: Now this just released.
you: I am at a loss of words
Adrian: So the servers are having issues, with more servers opening up as other countries release then we will show these issues resolving themselves.
you: Yes, but it is not capacity demand I am debating
Adrian: I can understand this causing frustrations and I do apologize for this.
you: Your servers are not the issue
you: The game/back end is
you: "Game updates" are not an excuse to hide behind
Adrian: I am sorry, but I am not able to process a refund.
Adrian: Is there anything else that I can assist you with?
you: You were offering refunds according to your press release!!!!
you: In response to the launch day trouble Hatam said " If you regrettably feel that we left you down, you can of course request a refund for your order at http://help.origin.com/contact-us , though we are currently still in the process of resolving this issue. "
you: Why lie??
you: I have done nothing wrong in expecting what is quoted.
Adrian: That is correct, that this is where you can request a refund, but as our policy is stating it is also the our discretion to process a refund.
you: http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/210/9330019.page#top
you: Process a refund.
Adrian: As I stated before, we are not able to offer a refund.
Adrian: Is there anything else that I can assist you with?
you: This chat text goes viral.
you: Thanks

1. That's not confirmed whatsoever.
2. Steam does the same thing but people have no problems with it.

People can have their own opinions, I just wish the people haven't even bought the game would GTFO of this thread and let's actually discuss the gameplay and what's new instead of bitching and moaning.

Thanks, wasn't sure how dated my system is, been out of the scene for a while. I've been looking forward to this game for so long it's such a disappointment that it's running into these problems. I'll probably work on my mayor skills in Sim City 4 until they fix everything.

Funny, I was going to ask the same thing of you about system specs. Q6600 with 4GB ram and a radeon 6870 here.

More ram would be nice, but DDR2 isn't cheap.

Wow I finally got to play it for a few hours and it saved my progress to boot.

I really like the game! But by no surprise I'm finding the city too small and feel like I have to demolish too much stuff to put in everything I want.. Then I started thinking that may be my fault.. There seems to be lots of options to outsource services, so why am I cramming it all into one city. Going to have to claim some nearby areas and specialize them a bit more. Will see if that lets me feel that the city size is big enough.

The War Z was an exceptional case, and refunds were issued through Steam. Didn't Blizzard issue refunds for almost identical reasons for Diablo 3?

Steam has offered refunds for games that lied or that are flat out broke in the past. They did it for The War Z because devs flatout lied on their steam store page about features in the game.

Blizzard did offer refunds to anyone who purchased it digitally from them for the first 30 days iirc.
