http://www.tuaw.com/2013/10/04/simcity-might-get-an-offline-option-after-all/"Right now we have a team specifically focused on exploring the possibility of an offline mode. I can't make any promises on when we will have more information, but we know this is something that many of our players have been asking for. While the server connectivity issues are behind us, we would like to give our players the ability to play even if they choose not to connect. An offline mode would have the additional benefit of providing room to the modding community to experiment without interfering or breaking the multiplayer experience."
Surprised this hasn't been brought up today. Maxis says they're actively exploring the possibility of an offline mode

The expansion is a freaking joke. I mean the game is much better than when it was first released but there are so many things that still need tweaking and here they are releasing an expansion? wtf. The problem is people will buy it. ugh.
The ostensible reason for always online was basically the region syncing calculations, right? Since that doesn't work anyway, I imagine it's easy to remove.
I got a decent amount of enjoyment out of SC5 but I'm certainly not going to buy a $30 DLC when there are still many many issues that need to be addressed.
Sim City 4 had one expansion.
Who thinks Sim City 5 will become like the Sims with 5 expansions a year? I sure hope not.
I did get hours of play, but there is not a lot of depth to the game. Unfortunately, not much more is exposed after a few hours in except the regional works which are pretty lame.
It'll be like BF3 or The Sims I bet.
They should be giving out the expansion for free.
LOL
This is EA we're talking about here.....
$19.99 Black Friday deal for base game.
I couldn't resist.
It's a hunch, but I think EA is done making expansions for SimCity.
Looks like they're just getting started with DLC for it though. Easier to make, more profit. Takes an artist about 1 minute to create, sell for 2 to 10 dollars.
