How did it play for you in the beta? was it really slow? I had this issue with Diablo 3, but they also blocked lower than minimum specs in the beta.

It played fine on low, I didn't have anything to complain about. It wasn't pretty but was well enough for me.

What are the exact specs? I've read the intel HD4000 as the minimum vid card for awhile now.

Part of the point of a beta is to determine stuff just like this... You played the beta, they collected statistics, decided your setup is too slow, and blocked it via install.

My video card: Intel(R) HD Graphics Family (I need 256mb dedicated RAM, I have a distant 64mb. Again, specs on paper, not in practice)

Everything else meets minimum specs.

My setup wasn't too slow, they game was never choppy, I never had an issue except maybe a drop to 25fps at some points(acceptable to me).

Either way, who are they to say whether or not I can play a game that I purchased? My computers performance affects no one else, but me. If it was a MMO of some kind, maybe a minor hit to everyone else (still haven't heard anything of that either). My performance affects only me, if this collected data determined if they think I can play it or not, then they should not have proceeded with the purchase, or notified me accordingly.

Edit: And to address your edit, it affects them because you will bitch and moan if it runs slow. The "PR" from not installing due to bad hardware is better than the PR from a laggy game.

it does nothing but cause problems for honest gamers. You should never have a 30 minute wait to START A SINGLE player game.

And you claim the PR of taking my money, and not letting me play the game, is better than the PR of someone who is obviously too young, or uniformed to know how games work and type like a dunce and don't have an established voice to sway opinions of anyone but the likes of them.

It's better to steal, than to let someone whine about issues on their end?

EDIT: On a side note, let me mention I enjoyed playing the game except for minor issues completely unrelated to computer performance, which was not an issue. And if my laptop specs are this terrible, I can't imagine what it would take to make this game unplayable.

Because there is no reason for it? Other than greed and stupidity? NOT BEING ABLE TO PLAY THE GAME is a hell of a deal breaker.

I think always-online and queues are dumb for this game, but they won't last beyond a couple of days. Most of it is because other countries using VPN to activate their game, causing server overload.

How many of you bitching actually own or are buying the game? Or are you here just to bitch?

Eh I'm usually that guy, but this time around I was up and running from download to play time in 30 minutes. True harking back to yesteryear I'd probably would have stuck that CD in and been playing in 10 minutes.

So far I like that you can expand some buildings through modules. I do at the start like how regions work.

Okay, so I've fixed my issue of origin not registering the game as installed. (No thanks to the troll claiming I was blocked out.)

I was on a phone call with tech support and we narrowed it down to disabling all services on start up and my antivirus. My antivirus was disabled previously but didn't solve the problem. So another one of my services was preventing Origin from registering the download/install. The client finally booted up and is currently updating.

Dude you gave zero details earlier, AT isnt free tech support, we can help sometimes but if you come here and give the same vague details you gave tech support originally don't expect any miracles

I played for a couple hours last night. I'm really loving the game so far.

I stayed up until midnight, had about 20 mins of trouble for it to be released and start downloading, I played the tutorial this morning just for the hell of it, so I can play for a few hours when I get home. Overall I'm super excited, but I'm unsure of how to divert traffic.

I wanted to spend money upfront on high density avenues, but then I lost a lot of cash.

Welp, I've pretty much strip mined my first city in under 3 hours so now I need to make it into something self sustaining and move on after upgrading as much of the town hall/education as I can so that I won't need to stress out about these things in my next city. Resources just don't last long enough in my experience.

Apparently the game is only downloading just now?? WTF was it doing this morning?

I learned that lesson when I got into the second beta weekend. The Origin download is just the launcher, you have to then run the game once it downloads so it can download the rest. :/ At least it was only about a half hour download at that point, but still irritating.

While I think this always online to play sucks ass, I am having massive flashbacks to when Half Life 2 was launched. I remember having to wait 12 hours for some stupid file to download in order to play the game. Drove me insane, looks like history is repeating itself here.

Mine downloaded fine at 1.2 to 2 MB/sec

Took less than 2 hours.
