GTR2 is one of the best sim's i've ever played, real cars, real sound, real damage, force feedback, real physics. If you have the money, buy a G25 steering wheel.

Yup, a good wheel and pedals are a must. GTR2 is my sim of choice, but there are plenty of others out there depending on your tastes.

The same company also just released another racer called, "Race". It's more Nascaresque and I think has muscle cars. It was given good ratings on gamespot. GTR2 is pretty dang good also.

I'm really bad at racing games, but I like playin them. GTR2 is a bit more forgiving than the first GTR, but I'm still usually two seconds or more off the pace and my race ends like this

I own GTR 1 and 2, rFactor, and Race and they're all great games. Go grab a wheel and pedal set first, the Logitech black MOMO is an excellent low cost one. When you get your wheel, go download the demo for GTR2 and rFactor, then go from there. Both the GTR series and rFactor have a tremendous following and there's a lot of add-on cars and tracks that make them even more enjoyable to play. Race is a fun game, bad thing is there's no add-on cars or tracks like GTR1/2 and rFactor. Live for Speed, I played it for about a week before I went back to GTR. The multiplayer part was kind of fun but everything else just seem to pale in comparison to GTR and rFactor. Hope that helped.

Here's the link to the main GTR2 forum over at RSCNET: http://forum.rscnet.org/forumdisplay.php?f=1096

Here's a vid of me doing a lap around Nordschleife in a BMW V12, both community add-ons for GTR2:

Maybe it's just me, racing games without real licensed cars is a turn-off. GTR2 is really good, but it's nice to have a rally game also. They are totally 2 different beast. I wanted to try Richard Burns Rally but it's really hard to find at any local store.

Does anyone have the G25? I have the momo wheel; I think the wheel itself is ok, but the pedals are flakey (cheap plastic parts). It's also the only wheel I've used so I don't have anything to compare it too

Also, there is a game that's supposed to be coming out right about now, strictly online, and it looks sweet. don't remember the name.

Here's a video of the G25 in action. I have the first MOMO Logitech wheel (the red one) but the functional clutch pedal and the shifter on the G25 has me sold. I don't think it compares to a FrexGP setup but I don't mind since it's also much cheaper. I heard the wheel is much better than previous logitech wheels but unless you're dying to play with a clutch and shifter I probably wouldn't bother.

I hear the red Momo like you have is a better wheel than the newer one. The Frex looks impressive (expensive) I have an issue where I'll downshift too fast using the paddle shifters - like, I try to go from 4th to 3rd, but I grab 2nd instead and I'll spin out as a result - maybe the H shifter would help with that, but I simply lack some basic driving skills

I agree wholeheartedly - that's one of the reasons I've moved on from LFS (that and with the physics it often feels like there's something wrong with the tire grip - feels like you're on ice - not sure if they've fixed this, I stopped right after LFS S2 was released).

Well, there's Test Drive Unlimited (which, while it's not a sim strictly speaking, it has just about any high performance car you could want). The physics are somewhere between NFS and GTR.

As far as actual sims, I've enjoyed LFS, GTR, and GTL - out of those, GTL is my favorite.

Hahah nice video! Nice music too lol

I havent tried out the new G25 but my Momo has served me well. The G25 is supposedly "limited edition" whatever that means. So I'll try to grab one before Logitech takes them off the shelf which they seem to have a habit of doing with their wheels.
