Simple but failed: Tried to install Netscape 4.76 ---Please help

This is suppose to be a simple installation. I downloaded Netscape 4.76. Double click on it, it self extracts to TEMP folder to begin installation. While it is at 90% of its self extracts to C:\Windows\TEMP folder, it pop up a window saying that it failed.

"The decompression of %s failed. There may not be enough free disk space available in the TEMP directory"

I clear the TEMP folder and try again. Same thing happen. My C: still have more than 2gig space left and the TEMP folder is empty.

PLEASE HELP.... (i don't want to stick with Netscape 6)

I would suggest that you download the latest version of Mozzila - SeaMonkey(the browser that netscape is based off of). It is far more stable than netscape six, and it looks like a cross between 4 and 6. You can download it at www.mozilla.org. Also if you want to stick with netscape 4.76 I would suggest redownloading the intstaller. But then again you might have a slow internet connection so that might not be the most favorable option. Otherwise I suggest to use IE 5, which is generally faster than both nescape and mozilla. Good luck.

Stick with IE.
Netscape sucks for webmaster and web designer so many incompatiblities, websites are designed for IE and updated with fixes to work with Netscape.

Windows is probably "not reporting the disk space correctly or slowly". Run scandisk or 3rd party utilities like Norton DiskDoctor to correct this error.

I had the same problems awhile back with my K6 system. I was using a K6-2 550 on a old FIC va503+ mb rated up to 400mhz and was getting errors just like that after a d/l of a large file, netscape especially. Tryed all of microsofts tips and still had problems. Downloaded the same file again with my other computer and had no problems. I was also having problems with other large d/l's being corrupt on that computer. Updated to the latest va503+ mb and using the 550, had no problems after that.
