Simple Question: DC-DDR400 Motherboards

I am on backorder to buy the new intel D865PERLK board and need to know what ram to buy.

The board supports Dual Channel DDR-400. So, with DC-DDR400 can I just purchase 2 identical sticks of regular DDR400 and plop them into the synchonous slots 1+2, or do I need to buy DualChannel specific Dimms?

just get 2x of any ram. the twinx etc is said to be tested and better but it really doesnt matter. (they are also way expensive)

Actually, Corsair's TwinX packs end up being cheaper than buying individual modules. However Corsair in general costs more than most other brands.

You can use any 2 sticks of the same type. Intel's chipset does require that the two modules (and possibly all 4 modules if you get a board with 4 slots) be matched, as in same size, same organization.

Where are you on backorder for a motherboard Intel doesn't list, using a chipset that they haven't announced?

DC specific DIMMS are all marketing hype. They have no advantages over two identical ones, other than the fact that they may have been testing to both hit their advertised speed.

OCZ's done a good job for me w/ DC-DDR lately. Corsair is another quality brand as well.

First of all, Thank You for all your input. It just takes a few responses to my questions to make me realize how out of date I am with Ram/MB/CPU technology. I used to give out advice to people back in the Intel Klamath chip days, but then was offered a software/windows job.

to LORD EVERMORE: I was invited to an intel resellers conference and they gave us a coupon to redeem for a 3.06ghz hyperthreading chip with a D865PERLK MB. Its a new chipset and the first intel Black PCB I've seen. I don't remember all the specs but its basically a Hyperthread board with onboard 100 NIC, Soundmax 6.1 surround and DC-DDR support (but you can stick in any combo of RAM, it will just run at lowest dimm speed and without Dual Channel). Backordered for 2 weeks, shipping takes another 3.5 weeks :-(
