When will the FX 55 be out? And if the FX 55 comes out will the FX 53 decrease in price? I'm hoping to get one and if the FX 55 makes the 53 cheaper then yey for me!

FX-55 is slated for Q3 last time I heard. Might come a bit earlier. I wouldn't get excited about it's possibility to save you money, though. AMD is making the big bucks off those things, and the FX-53 didn't do anything budge the price of the 51.

Like sonic said, the FX cpus are really expensive and prices not really for the mainstream.

Is getting an FX cpu that important for you, benchmarks don't show enough difference
to justify the extra $$ for the 'normal' stuff most people do.

amd said that there will only be one fx on the market at a time. It is just the old stock from companies that is still available. I think they should make them all available. Keep the older ones. They are still amazing cpu's. I think the logic is then that people will decide the old ones are good enough and not buy the more expensive new ones.

perfect, Q3 is when i planned to ditch this PC that i built in Q1 in favor for an FX-55, i am really good at guessing roadmaps eh? will the nVidia nForce 3 that is slated to support PCI-E be out by then? and will there be PCI-E 6800 GTs?

Well doesn't more cache mean more performance, if not what would be a good AMD Athlon 64 in which I could keep for three years and still be able to play the latest games at least in minium settings?

You will be better off getting a midrange A64 every 12-18 months than one really expensive one and trying to get 36 months out of it.

Always go for the best bang for the buck unless you have money to waste. It will be cheaper and faster in the end.

the extra cache gives you about 5% performance increase at most; usually it is like 3%; except in some specific applications. look at the difference between the 3800 and the FX-53 in benchmarks. Of course the FX-53 is not multiplier locked. Remember the FX-55 will still be .13 micron so don't expect overclocking miracles
