the one station here used to have a 3 or 4 hour simpson marathon on halloween night with all the old halloween specials but I don't think they are this year

The cash register does NOT say "NR4LIFE" or anything of that sort.. That was a joke, and you guys fell for it. There were complaints that the simpsons were left-wing, so they made that joke to rebut the claims (that they're actually right-wing).

Anyways, it's actually some number (dollar amount), though I can't remember it off the top of my head... it's the average amount needed to pay for a child for a month, or some weird statistic.

As for the cash register, the Simpsons 138th episode spectacular says that the cash register says "NRA4LIFE" but if you look at it (as I have with the VCR and slomo because I am complete dork) it is a bunch of numbers.. no letters.

And I believe that Homer weighs 237 lbs.

How bout this...

In the opening sequence, Bart writes something different on the chalk board each time. Also, the Simpsons all file into the living room different each time. Besides these two things, what else is different each time in the opening sequence???

(The length is not the answer. There is a short opening and a longer one... but that's not the answer)
