I'd guess that there are just as many Republicans that have switched to the democrat party in the same time frame. They're looking at offices nationwide, and that is a LOT of positions. I'll get excited when they can say that 25 d's in DC have switched.

They're probably feeling pretty stupid about that now that the Enron checks aren't coming in anymore....

ElFenix: not that this belongs here but i had to respond. true, enron gave to everyone but does that make it ok? and if you look at it, enron routinely gave republicans over 50% more money than they did to democrats. sorry i don't have a link to it.

Uh . . . what's your point? The money Enron gave to the Republicans didn't gain them any special advantage. When they called Paul O'Neill looking for some help with bankruptcy, they were turned down. Doesn't sound like the behavior of somebody who's been "bought" to me.

Exactly. If Enron was buying politicians, they didn't get crap for their money. THEY FAILED. I've seen absolutely NO evidence of any quid pro quo here.

Bush stuffed FERC with Enron appointed commissioners, FERC turned a blind eye as the Enron crowd withheld supplies and manipulated the market to essentially rob CA of $30Billion under threat of blackouts. That's $1000 from every Californian. Money that could have gone to CA schools, hospitals, or returned as tax cut to residents.
Maybe Bush couldn't prevent the bancruptcy, but It's not for the lack of trying, and they did gain advantage from their donations. They pretty much were left unregulated, and they took full advantage of it. There has to be a full investigation of CA energy crisis, starting with full disclosure from the White House.

Jeffords is way left of southern Democrats, and he votes for Dems on procedural matters, so for all practical matters, he is a Democrat.

The most important part of your statement is, "They pretty much were left unregulated, and they took full advantage of it."

How long has Bush been President, SuperTool? How long has Enron been doing what they've been doing? They rose to prominence during the Clinton administration. The California power crisis began during the Clinton administration. Don't try to hang something on Bush when he wasn't even in office yet.

The crisis was artificial and achieved through withholding of supples. Notice that once Bush gave in to pressure from CA GOP and put in caps, the crisis disappeared almost overnight, and CA is running a healthy surplus of electricity now. It was FERC's job to prevent just such market manipulation. FERC was full of Bush (Not Clinton) appointees most with Enron connections. The bulk of the money went from CA to Texas energy companies who bankrolled Bush. Of course, this could all be a coincidence, but appearance of impropriety is there. Which is why we need a full investigation, and full disclosure, which we are not getting from the administration. The administration who claims to restore dignity and integrity to the white house should not be hiding facts under shallow claims of executive priveledge.

Yeah, we have KennyBoy and other Bush buddies pleading the fifth, we have an apparent executive suicide, we have Dick Cheney hiding info from the GAO, we have Campaign finance reform sailing throught congress, we have increased calls for regulation, and Democrats have an issue to attack the GOP with.
And that's just in the first month. Remember how long it took from Paula Jones to the Impeachment. And that was over sex. This is corruption. This dog will not only hunt, my friends, it will bite too.

Oh, come on. Don't be modest. Clinton's problems didn't start (or end) with Paula Jones. You're forgetting (I think I've got these in chronological order):

Dodging the draft
"I did not inhale"
Gennifer Flowers
Whitewater
Monica (of course)
the last minute 'let's give everyone a pardon that wants to buy one'
and all the fun stuff he's done to get into his new house

I know I've left out a few, these just stuck in my mind. Talk about corrupted...

every time i see a post like this i have to laugh. what friggin difference does it make who received what? they all received money and just because the Dems are more easily bought doesn't relieve them of any culpability; it just shows that they're low-budget whores.

Oh, come on. Don't be modest. No matter what your partisan beliefs are, Bush is no less scandalous than Clinton. Give it up, they're both corrupt politicians. We haven't had a non-corrupt politician since Benjamin Frankin, and even he had his issues.

Name one Bush scandle.

Just one BigDawg.

Btw, since you have no evidence that Bush did anything special for Enron in exchange for money that one is out.

He can't remember anything before 1974 because that's when he was doing the nose candy.

That said, I don't give a crap if he was doing coke back then anyway. And I didn't care that Clinton smoked pot back in the day, either.

Ooooh, got me there. They're all bad people, so we just need to deal with it? Prove to me that Bush is as scandalous as Clinton (no, you can't really convince me, but I'd like to see your reasons for making the statement above)

I haven't seen a Bush impeachment yet, nor Bush screwing his interns in the White House. Care to enlighten us when this happened?
