Since they've made about every other comic into a movie, why not Neil Gaiman's "Sandman"?

Hollwood managed to make The Lord of the Rings series without totally screwing it up, why not Neil Gaiman's Sandman? Let someone like Tim Burton direct/produce it and you have a movie which has the potential to utterly rock.

An American Gods movie might be pretty good.

A sandman movie would kick serious ass if done properly. However, I'm sure most people have no clue who or what Sandman is so the studios would see it as a risk. Having Tim Burton direct it would be great. I think he's the only director that could actually pull it off.

I knew it was a comic before the movie showed up. So far of the four, the first one is the only good one.

i think a sandman television series would work a little better. Outer limits fashion.

erm, it would be hard for a screen production to capture the whole surreal feel of the series.

I'd be happier if they just left it alone.

I think it'll be possible to pull the surrealness off. An example off the top of my head is The Cell.

the sandman is ok but you really have to be into the series to like it. i mean, you have to like all the trippy metaphysical dream stuff to really appreciate it.

i think a better movie would be the PREACHER movie! oh hell yeah. preacher was the best vertigo series by far and its a shame a movie version has been delayed for so long.

I definitely think Preacher would make a cool movie. I think it's sad that Blade got its own movie, being that he's such a small character. Also I heard they're making a movie based on 30 Days of Night. For those who don't know what it is, it's a story about a town in Alaska being invaded by vampires on a 30-day night.

Live-action Transformers movie is already in the works, also a live-action G.I. Joe movie. A movie version of Preacher is already in pre-production, and supposedly there may be a Sandman movie in the future as well. Sad thing is, they will have to dumb both Preacher and Sandman down so much for the general public, no one will wind up liking them.

Has anyone heard any news about the Y The Last Man movie? I think that's the best comic series out right now. I hope they don't dumb it down and make it about him being lusted after by women or something like that. The comic is great just the way it is and I'm sick of producers thinking theyre smart and trying to "fix" already great concepts (like Batman Forever, Batman and Robin, etc.)

For anyone who doesn't know what Y the last man is, its this comic about a plague that kills the entire male population on earth except for one guy, Yorick, and his pet monkey. He gets chased by angry lesbians and some female govt leaders want to use him as a breeder to populate their armies. It's better and more exciting than most of the new movies that have come out recently.

Because they've already tried repeatedly and failed. Gaiman has pretty much washed his hands of the idea already.
