I've had Sirius for about a year now and love it. I'm listening to Stern right now and he is the best. If you don't like Howard 100 - 101 then there are over 100 other channels to listen to.

Will sirius be offering all of their channels online? I really hate how XM only offers SOME channels online...

Wow--$77/year for XM? I hadn't heard about that. I hadn't considered satillite radio because fo the price, but for $6/month that's tempting...

I had to fight with 10 different CSR's to get it...its a YMMV thing AFAIK...unless they changed it(which would be great )

You have to ask yourself why they are offering XM for $77.00 a year You'll have the answer if you listen to Sirius.

because its a price that more consumers were willing to pay over the revenues they had off $150/year?

I love my XM...

Is there a thread that outlines this deal? I have looked on these forums and a few others and haven't found the deal yet.

More like a price so XM can stay in business- if they were so superior to Sirius they would not be discounting their subscriptions to keep people. For me Sirius offers a lot more content than XM and is worth more money. It's not like XM and Sirius are offering the exact same content- if that was the case I would be paying less for XM.

The $77 XM deal is very YMMV. You have to have a subscription and be be prepared to CANCEL when you call up to ask for it I don't know if it's a one time deal, but it smells of desperation.

Sirius offers better content without question. The $500 lifetime deal blows away the $77/year/one time XM deal IMHO.

You do realize that the lifetime deal is only on the lifetime of the radio. So, if the radio dies, you can't transfer the deal to another radio. At least, this is the way it was about a year ago when my dad wanted to buy a lifetime subscription on his leased BMW. When the rep told him that, he declined. He is going to trade that thing in sometime next year. Why trade in a lifetime subscription on a radio he is going to replace or trade in? In order for you to recoup your investment, you have to keep that radio running for over 3.5 years or so. Anything less is a ripoff.

I prepay for 3 years in advance. That way, I save the most and I am not out that much in comparison. Plus, if I replace my radio or upgrade, I can transfer the plan over to the new radio at no charge. If I discontinue my service, I get a refund for all unused time.

The free online deal will be all channels for two days. ALL channels.
IF you subscribe, you get ALL channels available online. As a subscriber, I can get all channels online, including the talk shows like Stern. I believe the new deal they have announced is that you can subscribe and get ALL channels online even if you don't buy and activate a radio.

Regarding the lifetime subscription, the way it was explained to me is that you get a maximum of 2 or 3 transfers, meaning if the radio dies and you buy a new one, you can transfer your lifetime subscription two or three times. I know the number is three, but I don't know if that includes the initial activation.

You are incorrect sir. You can transfer a lifetime sub to a new radio for $75. Is still and always been that way.

I just canceled three XM accounts for myself and family and I could have had XM for almost free. The six months free is very easy to get. I was offered the equivalent of 9 months free with a year contract. I almost took it, but I never listen. I haven't listened to XM in months. If I want it I can listen on DirecTV.

Both Sirius and XM are good services, but you cannot deny that XM is in panic mode. XM keeps revising their subscriber estimates while Sirius raises theirs. Prior to Stern, XM was clearly the market leader. That is no longer the case.

When my Orbiter died they transfered my lifetime sub for free to a new starmate. That was 4 months ago.

It's tucked in a thread over at SD.net

Call them on 1-800-682-4114, which bypasses the Tier 1 lines which are answered in India, tell them your radio has expired, and that you want to take advantage of the $77 renewal offer you got on a postcard.

Still no word if Sirius will match this deal.
