SiS 620 - what PIII's does it support

Heres the deal, my dad has an old system that we actually got for free when my work was getting rid of old machines. It has a PC-Chips board in it with the SiS 620 chipset, I know that the board will support 512k PIII's. But I am wondering if it will support the newer coppermines (ok, just the 100 fsb ones, since thats as high as it goes). If anyone knows I would really appreciate it, the PII 266 he is using is really draging him down, because he is using photoshop really heavily and just got some really nice voice recognition software, and it would be silly to spend $135 on a 600 when he could get a 800 for around $180 and it would last much longer. If anyone knows, or knows where to find out, I would appreciate it.

the PC-chips website and the SiS website are no help, other than that the PC-Chips site says that it will support up to a PIII 650 - just one more quick question -> did intel make a non-coppermine 650? cause I don't think there is one, but then again I don't know everything, or I wouldnt be asking for help.

SiS 620 chipset just means you can't use 133 MHz bus CPUs - but correct pinout and voltage feed for Coppermine CPUs is up to the mainboard design, not the chipset.

Post what you have there - mainboard model and revision.

Ok took a while but I have the info, since the board number was not on the board, only the revision number, and I couldn't remember the board number (I had to look it up once before). It seems that PC-Chips doesn't feel the need to actually list their old slot 1 boards on their site anymore. So I went to amptron's page and found it there. The amptron board number is M748MR (I think, actually it is the M748LMR with out the modem and LAN chips.) and it is revision 1.1A. I am pretty much thinking that it won't support the new ones, but it might just be that they never update their site. Well if you can figure it out from that I would be very grateful. Thanks.

If that's the slot-1-only 748MR, then you're limited to the old 512-KB-cache "Katmai" P-III. No Coppermines. Latest BIOS is needed, www.pcchips.nl has 99/07/02 listed.

748LMRT (slot-1 and socket-370 Twin design) reportedly runs Coppermines in the slot-1, regardless of board revision. Only late ones run socket-370 coppermines. Same would be true for other 748T flavors that have fewer peripherals (no LAN, no modem riser). This board is still active at PC-Chips, latest BIOS just a few weeks old.
