You guys are driving yourselves crazy over this. 'Course I was the same way until I got my 8INXP but then turned around and sold it a week later. I did the same thing as Poldi (earliar post in this thread). Get a decent, cheap P4PE board to get you by until all this stuff shakes out then buy what you want and sell the PE .

Gigabyte says all three versions will be available at approximately the same time, whatever that means. Again, it all depends on demand, which constantly fluctuates.

Are these the only differences between the three boards? If so, I may just go with the Ultra and skip the DPS and Gigabit Ethernet. Wonder what the price difference would be.

I don't think the SINXP1394 has SATA RAID. I think it's the only think missing.

Never mind, After reading Evan's review, it says it has it. Just didn't see it a Gigabytes website.

Well, I WANT this motherboard. Hope the Prescott CPU's will be out soon. Looking forward to reading about the 800MHz FSB HT article. Please don't keep us waiting.

Evan in your working with these two mobos based on the SiS655 which of the two would you want to own, the MSI 655 max or the GA-SINXP 1394? I know it's asking alot, but....taking all things into consideration, which one would YOU buy? I'll understand if you don't answer(I'm not trying to put you on the spot), but I think it's a legitimate question, I mean you worked with both these mobos and it would be something nice to know.

Your sinx91394 review was very well done, congrats. In fact I bought my Albatron PX845PEV Pro because of your review last year. I wasn't disappointed as it now runs at :
P4 2.66 mHz 20 x 183 = 3660mHz on AIR (Swiftech MCX478)
Albatron PX845PEV Pro w/ Vdimm mod 3.10v
Corsair XMS3200C2 cas2, 6,3,3 @ddr490+
3DMark2001, 19,048 (at 3400mHz)
Radeon 9700 (VCore mod 1.7v) 430/360 on AIR

But I'm looking to upgrade mobo's as I'll be getting creamed on the ORB by all the GB's and nForce2 rigs out there. SiS655 is a definite possibility I've been following since SiS made the 655 announcement.
However I think it may be a bit of a disappointment. I don't mind the voltage deficiencies, as I can mod that...but the question is the high fsb performance. Plus I'd like to see if 3.2 (800fsb) will run on SiS655.
But my MAJOR question for you tonight, is about the ABIT SI7...Harry from Abit tells me that the dc rdram pc1200 will rock! The board is built with IT7Max2V2 quality and features, but the high fsb-rdram question is a biggie! What do you know about SI7 and SiSR658?????????????????????????????????????

I would have to agree with you on the Gigabyte board, even though the results are a little lower than the MSI's.

For me, I think the board layout is much better than the MSI's, especially where the ATX PSU connector is.

Once I get the gigabyte board, I will see how it runs with the 3GHz processor in it.

Thanks for the review, I had been waiting for it to clear up my decision.

I noticed from the ocworkbench review that the SINXPs memory score at DDR380 was around 3520 MB/s. My 8INXP scores 3800 MB/S at DDR310 in dual channel mode.

I know that 1 test result is not the end all/be all of any good comparison, but what I want to know is:

Is this due to a performance penalty due to the aysnc bus speed or is this a problem due to an immature or unoptimized bios?

I had intended to wait for the SIS before I splurged for a new mobo, but that went out the door in 30 seconds when I saw my 8INXP at the show last saturday.

Nothing in the ocworkbench review makes me regret my decision at this point.
