Sister's 42nd birthday: Gift suggestions?

The MP3 player I gave her years ago was stolen a few weeks ago. Good idea. Not sure I could afford a good iPod though.

Cheap, has a screen, sounds good, and will clip to your clothes. Ideal running player.

Mine just died after 1 year and 2 weeks but I used it 1hr/day, 5 days/week. So I bought another one. Good buy, IMO. Skull Candy ear buds.

The last one I got her in 2006 or 2007 was a Sansa Express with a music subscription and an 8GB micro SDHC card. The Sansa Clip is like a lesser version of that (no expandable memory, IIRC), but it may be OK.

I do still have a new arm band for one so if I can find another Express it may be ideal, but I'm pretty sure they stopped selling it in 2008. That's when the 2GB version went on clearance everywhere.

Edit: Looks like the "Plus" version of the Sansa Clip added the mSD slot. Same display and interface she has been using, so it sounds perfect. I'm guessing that it doesn't come with an arm band?

No arm band. And I would recommend in the pocket/waist band for running. The clip holds well enough on my shirt tail for the elliptical but I wouldn't think so for running.

Well guys, the Sansa Clip died in less than a year. *sigh* Might as well bump the thread to talk about it and start looking for this year's suggestions. She's now in Newnan, GA staying with my twin brother.

I wonder why her Sansa Express lasted so much longer (still working when it was stolen) when they are essentially the same thing. The major difference is that the Clip has a clip but no built-in USB port, like the iPod shuffle 2g vs 1g. I should have known something was up with all the refurbs showing up for half the price on Woot.com every other week.

Does she read much? Kindle Fire works well as an e-reader and will also play music, Netflix, Amazon Prime video, smartphone type games, etc.

Well, looks like her Sansa Clip works after all. It stopped responding but stayed on until the battery died and then worked fined after a charge. Reminds me of what the Sansa Express did with a lossless WMA even though it listed them as a supported file type except that I had to DFU flash it to fix.

Next time it happens, tell her to hold down the power button for 15 seconds to force a reset.

As for this year, how about getting her an experience, like tickets to a concert, passes to a rock gym, or (if you want to splurge) a weekend at a B&B in the country.
