hello,

a friend at work is recieving porn mails on one of the company email addresses which is something that she didn't sign up for. also no webforms have been filled out using this address so im not to sure how the address is being targetted!

she has tried to "unsubscribe" by following their link but the mails have since increased from other sites.

either way, if i recall correctly there is a website that tells you how to report companies that send out unsolicited mail, but i cannot remeber the url, and a few searches on the net didn't help much either.

thanks,

NEVER reply to porn or other unsolicited email that is not from a reputable company. That just verifies the address and they sell it to more people.

It's amazing how companies get your addresses. Fill out one form, survey, send somebody an e-card anything. Those people will sell it. They the people who bought it, sell it again.

I have never seen a good site for reporting SPAM, I have tried a few programs but they were more trouble than they were worth. People use fake addresses anyway.

Best defense? Get a hotmail or other free account and use it in any fields that need an e-mail address. That way you can always go get something from it iff you need to.

ok cheers for that.

in that case does anyone know of a way, withint standard outlook express 5 to do a filter, where upon i can automatically move all emails that come into my inbox, with the subject "*bla*" in the title, as the porn companie(s) usually have similar content within the topic headers.

thanks,

Here are the directions on OEX6, it's probably pretty close to 5. Click on tools then message rules then mail. There are several things here that you can choose. If the From or subject lines specific words, and many more things. Look around here and you should be able to do what you want.

one way to get rid of a large portion of spam is to filter all mail that the user is BC'ed in on, or even CC'ed. Most spam in never sent using the TO field, though there are exceptions...
