Honestly, I would be willing to believe her remarks. From what I've come to understand about cutting or self-mutilation, it isn't necessarily about suicide. I usually hear remarks like, "I just wanted to feel something."

Sure, it always could have been either a suicide attempt or self-mutilation. That isn't what's hard to believe. It's the part about it having nothing to do with her coming out as bi last year, and whatever happened when her father found out.

This—exactly. She should have never had to make that video and it’s just another sign of overexposure via social media. I can’t say for certain if her parents put her up to it or if she’s just being careless on her own, but girl needs to put her shit on private and stop addressing the media. That’s her parents’ job if and when they choose to tell their side.

Well when you've got a father that's busy spouting insane bullshit, often citing children as though he's protecting them despite the clear proof he's totally a-ok with them being murdered in classrooms.

I'm not sure that's what they're saying, but rather a kid doesn't really talk like that. And yes, as someone who has dated women that cut, its not suicidal but rather about being an outlet for severe stress and anxiety. (Quick aside: no joke, I actually wonder if society wouldn't experience similar from regular blood donation, lots of high strung high blood pressure people out there; obviously it'd need to be in concert with other lifestyle changes and addressing the sources of the stress). Which, in my experience, cutting behavior is very very very often due to molestation.
