i recently got this HSF for my p3 933 and was wondering if i have to put the thermal tape on the HS if i'm gonna use artic silver...

No, for gods sake dont use the crap TIM thats shipped with it. Just use enough AS to cover the die.

just put on a thin layer of Arctic Silver. Throw the pad away.

He has a high preformance HSF and a p3. Save yourself the trouble and use the tim.

P3s run cool anyways, 2-3C will not be worth the trouble of scraping off the tim and buying AS.

i already got the artic silver...the reason why i ask if you need a that thermal pad on there is because my friend fried his new 1.4 TBird because the HSF wasnt making full contact with the cpu. I dont want to fry mine..so i was wondering if the thermal tape that came with it will help make full contact with cpu..

No the tape will not help at all, and with both of them it would only make it worse. You use one or the other. The best way is to trash the tape and use the AS. Use only enough to cover the core, perhaps .5mm in height. Be careful not to get any on the other components on the chip as AS is made of silver and therefore could possibly conduct electricity (even though its not supposed to).
