So far the biggest mountain I hiave snowboarded on is blue mountain in canada, it is a great mountain but now we are looking to go out west and try some bigger mountains. It looks as Jackson Hole is the most reasonably priced place I have found and it looks great. Does anyone on here have any experience with this vs some of the other big resorts?

What I have quoted to me (all taxes included) is an all inclusive package including flight from Indianapolis to Wyoming, all shuttle services, 4 days lift tickets, 5 nights in a hotel (away from the mountiain) shuttle from the hotel to the mountain, and flight back for $735/person. Is it worth the price, my friend I am going with is from France and is used to skiing the alps.

In short, yes Jackson Hole is a a fantastic mountain although it'll never be quite the same without the old Tram ... the only caveats I'd have to mention is that its not the best place for beginning/low intermediate skiier's/riders because most of the best terrain is the expert stuff coming down off the summit of the main mountain & if you see double-diamonds, be ready for some real death-defying stuff! As long as you & your buddy are both pretty good you'll have a great time.. the other potential issue is that the night life isn't exactly Lake Tahoe... theres bars & good food to be had, but folks go there for other reasons.

A friend of mine lived out there for a year and loved the skiing. And in respect to the night life, he loved that too, although he has always been the type to make his own fun.

i like it out there. unlike a lot of the fancy / overpriced resorts jackson has some great skiing and the town is sort of a like a real western town, not an aspen apres-ski type of city

One of the best...at least one of the prettiest. I love that place...never get tired of going to that area of the country. Not the best for a beginner/intermediate as stated though.

Is that ever going to reopen? I rode up it a couple summers ago, the ride and the view were awesome!

Superb skiing.
I have skied the Alps, and the Western US.
The Alps are really great, beautiful, and have nice features such as posh restaurants halfway down the mountain. So, you can take the lift to the top, ski half way down a 4 mile run, stop in for a fillet Mignon, and then ski down to the bottom.

Schladming ski resort height 745 m / 2444 ft
? top ski elevation 1894 m / 6214 ft
? vertical 1149 m / 3770 ft
? 53 km of ski piste
? 14 ski lifts

? Zell-am-see ski resort height 758 m / 2487 ft
? top ski elevation 1949 m / 6394 ft
? vertical 1191 m / 3907 ft
? 80km of ski piste
? 32 ski lifts

For pure skiing, I think the America West is the best in the world.

? Jackson Hole
? top ski elevation 10452 ft
? vertical 4141 ft
? 12 lifts

I lived in a place that was like an hour-2 hours from jackson hole, I went there once and it was excellent. For regular trips I usually went to Grand Targhee though. LINK

I suggest Breckenridge, Vail, Keystone, and Copper Mountains. You can stay in Frisco or Dillon and drive to all four easily. Flights to Denver should be cheap on Frontier or United Airlines.... (hub)

Alternatively, check out Salt Lake City. Get a Super Pass (check travelocity). It's good at 4 resorts in SLC. You can stay in Midvale and catch the bus or rent a car for the week. (best bet) Snowbird, Solitude, Alta, and Brighton are all world-class resorts.

If you want to spend more money, check out the Canyons and Park City. Lodging in Park City is more expensive than Midvale....but the Canyons is pretty good....newer than the rest and plenty of trails.

Reason why most of these are out is cost. I would love to go to one of the posh ski resorts, however I am financially not quit there yet (damn student loans). As I mentioned I am paying no more than $750 with everything minus food, for 5 nights, 4 days of skiing. If there is a better place to go than here for around the same price please let me know.

Copper was always my favorite for snowboarding.

I'm going to Keystone this Feb 9-16 and it costs us $745 per person.

We have a 2 bed room condo about 200 yds from the lifts.
7 nights
4 day lift tickets at any of the vail resorts.
Direct flight
A mini van.
We have our own equipments.

This is the cheapest ever for us as it usually cost us close to $1K each.

Can you please PM me your travel agent, or how you found this deal? Is everything including your flight included?

I PMed you.
Basically there are 5 of us sharing the 2 bedroom condo.
Hidden River Lodge
Its within walking distance to the lifts too.
The reason why its so cheap this time is because the condo was so cheap.
$1100 for the 7 nights.

Anyway, your deal is pretty decent too.
Jackson Hole is a first rate resort.

Edit...I just checked it and its not too bad right now.
With taxes, the same condo is in the $13xx.
We've been going to Keystone for 10 yrs, I guess they gave me a good rate.

Another recommendation is to go to Stowe in VT.
I think its rated #1 in the East.
I went there and it was great.
It was snowing the whole time and I didn't feel the difference in powder.
Its the only time I ever snowboard in the East.
